Is there any risk in damaging the motor? I know someone that took the balance shafts out of a new Sentra Spec-V and the motor suffered major damage from it.

Nope....theres a whole bunch of people who have done this mod for a while...check on the prelude board and on the hybrid board...the motor just vibrates more at idle

Cool. I was just checking, don't know a lot about the H22A, most if not all of my knowledge lies in the B series motors.

havent ran it at the track... i have beaten a lot of gsr hatches with bolt on's and i recently beat a car that ran a 13.8 by about 2 1/2 cars...i am estimating about 13.5 with good driving..maybe really low 13's on slicks...

the balancer shafts are solely in there for comfort...they help the motor vibrate less at idle... If they are removed the motor vibrates more at idle... But of course when you do an h22 swap into a different chassis, you have to run solid motor mounts which cause the car to vibrate at idle, so the vibration from taking the belts off is not noticeable especially when compared to that of the mounts..
