Pulling Check Engine Light codes on a 96 Civic (yes, i tried a search!!)
I tried searching through about 600 threads that talked about check engine lights, but they were all referring to engine swaps and what each code meant. There was no mention of how to acutally pull them except that you have to jump something with a paper clip.
If one of you guys would be so kind and tell me where the plug is and which pins to jump it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance!!!

Really Easy...
1. Open up that little grey kick panel on the passenger side floor. There should be one clip you have to pull out, and then one bigger white clip thing you have to kind of turn. Once you open it up, you will see your ecu.
2. Look for a blue connector thing that's inside a green cover type thing.(The only green thing in there.) The blue conector thing might even be out of the green cover already.
3. Just take a paperclip, and unbend it then rebend it to make it a U shape then stick those ends into the blue connector.
4.Turn ignition on to last position (the posisiont right before you start it up)
5. Read the check engine light.
6. 1 long flash = 10; 1 short flash = 1; 1 long pause = new code, or starting over)
-it will keep flashing the codes until you turn your car back off and unplug the paperclip.
Ex. 9 long flashes and 2 short flashes then a pause = 92.

Thank you so much, that is very helpful.....
Now, where do you go to find out what the codes are?? (Hope I'm not puching my luck!!!)

Once again, thanks for all of the replies. I pulled the code and found it to be a 67 -

96-98 Civic
97-98 CRV
96-98 Prelude
94+ Integra Catalyst system Efficiency Below Threshold malfunctioning or defective catalyst system
THe Catalytic converter? WHere the hell is the sensor measuring that? That seems like a strange one.
So, does anyone have a stock cat laying around from an exhaust swap they did or know a good place to pick up that or a high flow? Obviously I am looking for something realtively cheap. Thanks a lot in advance.

It's your secondary 02 sensor that is measuring that. There is a member on here with Salma Hayek (cant spell..I know) with his avatar selling an OEM cat for like 30 bucks or something...if I find him again Ill pm you with his name!!
Thanks for the help. Anyone else know of a good place to find a cat??
Also, why can't I post in the classifieds section? I read the help and it doesn't say anything about meeting certain requirements before posting. What gives??
