Default Possible Transmission problems??

Hi everyone!

Not sure what is going on with my 00 Si - but when I went to drive her home tonight, she had a very hard time going into reverse. I didn't have any problems getting into any other gear, but trying to get it into reverse and then back out was extremely difficult. Felt like I had to force it to go in.. When I did get it in gear and backed out, it didn't make any noise or seem like there was any problems, but then I had to strugle to get it out of reverse.

Any ideas on what's going on?
Probably change my tran fluid this weekend and see if that helps... but any other suggestions would be very helpful!!

Thanks a bunch!

reverse gear on 's are just not the best...if you didnt hear anything breaking and if its still working fine then chances are that its ok, just change the fluid to mtf and it should be fine

reverse gear in honda and most other cars is not sychro. that mean you will a little clunk or a grind. so not to worry too much.. unless you girnds and noises in the forward gears then you need to be a bit worry...

The only problem is that I could barely get it into reverse.

Need to check it out today when there is actually light and all.

Everything else seemed just fine last night.. just was really hard to get into and out of Reverse.

Go figure??

I have a gsr transmission with the same problem, it's for sale.

Also, I know 2 other people that have that same problem, some it won't go into reverse at all, and some you have to force it into reverse and hold it there. And I think Katman had that issue as well.

if you have to force it in and hold to go reverse then you have a bad 5th and reverse synchro, cause 5th and reverse share the same synchro. honda trans fluid use regular motor oil 10w30. how many miles is on your car? try to change the fluid.

no dude, reverse isn't synchronized. it uses spur cut gears.

Try some new Honda MTF. Worked like a charm for me or try taking your foot off of the clutch for a second and then try putting it back into R.

Put it in 1st, 5th before you put it in R see if that helps.

If you have that problem, you should shift into the 4th gear for a second or two then go into reverse. It should go in smooth. Cause putting it into 4th should realign the gearing.

Since my sychros from 1st to 4th are all fcuked up slightly, i use that technique for stop and go driving
