Default Jackson Racing Vs. Vortech Based For B18C1 Hatch....

anyone have ether installed? for that matter anyone have a S/Ced swap in a hatch? is it at all possable....pics? This is my plan, i got my 93 DX Hatch, and im going to be getting a full B18C1 Swap soon, then after i get that in and do minor bolt ons, i wana go S/C...Im just councerned with detonation during the hot summers here in NJ (This previous summer dosent really apply), but it gets really f-ing hot here sometimes. Pros / cons on the 2 systems? I realise that the JR charger by design and common sence is always going to make more Torque, but what PSI can u safley run without any charge cooler? I think they run around 6, which isint that bad, but i dont want to melt a piston or anything...

ok im babling now, so i guess this could turn into a good post...lets hear your thoughts

I really like my JRSC, running 6 lbs of boost, check my sig...I highly recommend a Hondata unit, and S100 with boost option is all you will really need. anything else you would like to know?

how long do you think you can run a JRSC on a stock GSR Block?
does the kit come with all the nessary fuel enrichment? (that blue rising rate fuel thingy? lol)
any idea how hot intake temps are?

if it's running good (proper fuel and tuning and boost) it should give you lots of happy miles

i love the whiiiiiiiine! but no, just daily driving you don't notice it. when you get on it is when a valve opens and thats when it boosts. if you are just accelerating from a intersection it's just like stock (except it will NEVER bogg) I IT!

Vortech= lag of a turbo (technically) and parasitic loss of a SC.

If you want to SC then JRSC is the way to go.

Vortech seems to work alot better on bigger displacement motors: ie: Vdub's, Domestics etc.

I am not a fan of JRSC.....here in texas I have seen many people blow their motors....stock...no upgraded pulleys or anything....and my NA B16A will outrun just about ANY JRSC I have come across here.....

a bigger pitfall of a SC is when the temp drops boost goes up and no means of decreasing the boost with the kit alone and your intake charge will increase substantially.....dont get me wrong some like it...and the whine it makes under load is killer...but I dont like their products or the customer service they offered in times past....

as far as the Vortech unit it makes more power overall....the only big complaints I have heard about them is maitenance.....to do just about ANYTHING to your car....you have to remove the unit...b/c of the shaft that goes across the header/exh manifold......so unless you plan on doing all the work on your car yourself....labor fees will jump a good amount

Personally, I'd rather go turbo with low boost then SC. More upgradable and has an intercooler

I plan to tune and dyno my car next spring I am only running a supercharged single cam right now. it pulls pretty good. everybody hates on JRSC but I haven't had any bad luck. (knock on wood) as far as 1/4 et, I have only been out to the track once with the charger and it was running low 15's with rim tires I figure with proper tuning, slicks, and my best friend NOS low 14's high 13's? I dunno, we'll have to wait 'til next spring. Here in MINNESNOWTA it's getting time to put the car down

Jackson Racing is ******* weak. Buy it of you're into "street legal performance".
Dump all your money into mods, buy the pulley upgrade, and post your 180 hp dyno sheet for all of Honda-Tech to laugh at.

Vortech is pimp ****, buy it if you're into racing at all.

Actually buy a turbo before you buy a vortech. You'll spend the same amount.
