I know everyone is gonna tell me to search this, but I can't ever find anything about it on here. So my question is....what do I need to do to put a b18c into my car? I was going to switch from obd0-obd1, with the conversion harness for my ecu, and get a p28 ecu chipped for the swap. After the chip and the wiring what else do I need to do? Such as will the b18c harness work with my stock crx harness, or do I just use my stock crx harness. And do I just run the 4 wires from the ecu to the second o2, the knock sensor, the vtec selenoid, and the distributor? I need help I am thinking of doing this swap but I dont want it to be a huge pain. Otherwise I will just build the **** out of a b16. Any help would be really great...thanks
you need to use your stock crx harness. You also need to get an obd-1 distributor and any sensors or anything that changed with the switch to obd-1. Aside from that, just wire it like you would any dpfi to mpfi swap and then do the conversion harness right at the ECU. good luck.
Here is what I did.
the engine is a B18C5
the transmission is a JDM Y1 cable tranny.
the harness is a US DX converted to MPFI. The sensors are the same with the exception of the Thermoswitch. On the CRX it's on the back of the block. On the B18C is on the thermostat housing. You already have MPFI in your HF, so all you need is the extra wires for VTEC. You will need the harness from the B18C to get the plugs for the extra sensors. In reality it's pretty much the same as doing a B16 swap.
You can go with the OBD0 to OBD1 swap, but you can also use a OBD0 ECU.
The PR3 or PWO will run the B18C engne just fine. You will need an adjustable FPR
and a trip to the dyno to make sure it's runing fine. I ran my B18C5 for a while with a stock PR3 and it ran perfectly fine.
I like the OBD0 route. if you have trouble finding an OBD0 B16 distributor, you can use your HF distributor. You will need to open up the hole on the front mounting leg, but it works 100%
If you have specific questions email me.
