Default May be getting rid of the R...

Well, it's been a great 3 years with 00-1212, but the insurance on this vehicle in NJ keeps going up and up. I'm married with no point and the insurance is absolutely ridiculous. I'm looking at selling the R and getting an 03 S2K. Amazingly, the Honda is $800/year CHEAPER that the ITR to insure. I've always wanted a convertible and now is the time (before the kids come!)

Anyway, my car is in mint condition...here are the stats:

1. 2000 Black ITR
2. 9500 Miles
3. Original Owner
4. Garage Kept
5. Autocross and Weekend Car ONLY
6. No accidents
7. $21,000 obo

If anyone in northern NJ is interested, please email me.

I am in the same boat. I've been considering getting rid of my ITR. The S2K is a great car, but the price gap between the two cars is just not worth it. All the S2K's i've looked at in my area have been in the 23K range. You can pick up a ITR in good shape for like 16K~ and the performance difference between the two cars is small.

The ITR is almost unbeatable for the performance for $$ title. Not to mention is runs like a champ no matter how hard you beat on it.

Well, deal is done. Traded in the ITR for an '03 S2k. The dealers are anxious to let go of them considering the '04's should be hitting the showrooms soon. Got mine for $700 over invoice...Silverstone/black.

What a car! I thought my ITR was tight, but this car brings it to a new level. I've only driven it for a couple of days, but I am already noticing that I will have to re-learn all of my driving skills...especially for auto-x. The RWD set-up feels very different at the limit. Unfortunately, VTEC will not come for another 600 miles...break-in period.

Well, that's it. Got myself new wheels and it was a great move.

PS: I've never been banned from this board. I do not post much, but I do visit often. I've been a member for quite some time. I know there are some other members with AXEL in their handles...maybe you're thinking of them.

Man, that dealer is going to turn around and sell that ITR for $25,000, maybe even more

Wish I had seen this post a few days ago. I bet $1000 on top of what the dealer gave him for trade in would still be one hell of a deal.

$17,000 for the R. I'm sure a private trade would have yielded a better result, but I was unwilling to deal with the hassles of people coming to my house to test drive the thing. NADA had it going for $16,500. As far as the S, $700 over invoice is a good deal considering that many dealers continue to charge OVER MSRP for them. This is in the NY metro area...other areas may differ. However, with the 2004 on the way, they are selling close to invoice in some dealers...one just has to look.

well he could have traded his car in that day and gone home with a car he likes more (evidently) or he could have dealt with the d amn hassle of selling t he car himself, maybe or maybe not getting any more money for it,

Good luck, and enjoy your new car!

Rob, my thoughts were exact. Wait and maybe get a bit more for the car and buy an '04 S (which I did not want)...or trade and get a new '03. I've never enjoyed selling cars privately. It is a PITA.

700 over invoice for a 03 they cant sell/already depreciated value? good grief.

17000 for a itr with 9000 miles? good god.

now tell us which honda dealership you sold it to so we can go find out where to pick up that ITR for 25995.
