Remap FI on Honda's
Does anyone know what tool Honda has available to re-map the fuel injection on their bikes? A friend of mine said Suzuki has one available, and I was wondering about one for Honda. I just got a K&N air filter installed on my CBR600F4i and also an ART Slip-on, and the guy that put the stuff on for me said it may run lean, but could possibly be just fine.
Power commander (PCIII) will enable you to remap the entire fuel injection manually, or you can download one of their pre-made maps for your bike with your specific exhaust and filter. The pcIIIr model also allows for ignition adjustments.
PC is good. You probably only need the basemap if that. Btw, K&N filters don't outflow most oe sportbike filters... and a slip on won't require much a/f adjustment. They only cleanup the midrange, little or no peak power is attained
Aftermarket filters on the Honda's are useless. They have been known to lose HP over the stock filter, not only that, they allow dirt particles to enter the combustion chamber and ruin cylinder walls.
PC3 or PC3R is what is used to change fuel and or fuel/timing maps. Dyno time is suggested.

The guy I bought the bike from said the K&N would probably cause you to lose power, but since I've had it(K&N), the bike actually feels much stronger and cleaner above 6,000RPM's. It really has amazed me, it is more of a dog below 6G(it always has been, but is a little more now), but above that it pulls much harder than it ever has. I'm not quite sure what to think about the extra dirt particles getting through, if anyone else has heard this please let me know. But as of right now, it runs and feels much much better than it ever has.
