Default Seeking prototype cars in Utah- Free sunroof plug kit for 97+ Ludes

Yes the title says it all. We have a kit made for the 88-91 CRX and now we're going to build a kit for the Prelude. See my post on the crx with pics here.
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=622880

Or check the website to see what's included in the kit.

http://www.macqc.com/raceplates/newProducts.htm

This would be a great idea for any racecars or serious street cars out there. Kit weighs 2.15 lbs. SCCA is allowing them in many classes next year. See Oct Fastrack

Contact me for details.

how much does the stock sunroof ***. weigh? is this a permanet kit, or is interchangeable? is there any talk of the 92-96 preludes?

You know I have not been able to get my hands on on to weigh but the 92-95 assemblies weigh in at about 35 lbs and I would assume the Lude is even more beefy. We would consider the 92-96 for sure. This plug can be taken back out in a few hours but it really is just menat to take the weight out for good.

What I'd like to see is a glass replacement, ie you can remove the heavy *** glass and replace it with this piece but still have a working sunroof.

Someone else was doing this or has done it, but I haven't seen a post on it in a while.

How much do these cost?

The problem w/these is the CF material is much lighter than the glass (which is the idea, however) the heavy glass actually makes the sunroof seal properly..

If you ever noticed closing your sunroof, at the end it gives somewhat of a heavy *thud*..(or maybe mine is just broken ) that is the glass...for lack of a better word, falling in place.

</TD></TR></TABLE>Well, I have been hearing this from a few people. The sunroof on a CRX has no glass but does have a panel, motor and tracks and weighs in at 28 lbs. A similar design but with glass instead of a panel on a 92-95 weighs 35 lbs. This leads me to believe the glass only weighs 7-8 lbs. To save 7-8 lbs is not worth it in my mind. 30-40lbs is more bang for the buck. Most of the weight is in the assembly.

The kit for the 97+ Lude is going to be prototyped in the next two weeks.

The 92-96 may be as well. Still considering that one.

One of the HT members weighed their assembly on a bathroom scale and it was 42Lbs or buy a kit and it is only 2 lbs.

I can't wait to see pictures (not that it'll be drastically different than the CRX ones on your site, but . . . ).

And I don't know about anyone else, but I'd be very interested in a tinted Lexan plug kit for say half the price . . . .

I can confirm the glass is very heavy -- entire assembly is 43 lbs. Any word on the Prelude application yet?

I'm first in line to buy one!!

I had a prototype car that is now wrecked. I was able to pull a template from the car before hand but now I need a car to help prototype the kit. The carbon panel is cut and clear coated. I need to install it to make sure everything works. Can anyone help me out. Must be able to drive to Salt Lake City,UT.

If you can't find anyone near you, I will test fit it for you on my car. I will even pay you for it, if it fits. I don't mind paying the shipping either for the test fit

Yes, you take out the whole sunroof and motor. It's just a CF pannel that fills in the whole were your sun roof used to be. (it will not open or close anymore)

I guess you could leave the motor in, but it would just be dead weight.
