f22a1 valve cover
my valve cover looks like ****. all crusty looks like it sat in the ocean for a few years. and its chiping or rotting or maybe the previous owner lost the hood for a few years and cleaned the engine with acid rain and sick dog ****. anyways it looks like **** and i was wondering if i can buy new one for resonable price somewhere or sand and paint mine maybe. if paint, how do i go about removing the ugly and painting it without fucin it up? what kinda paint? spray paint ok? i guess i would need a new gasket? how do i go about removing it and putting it back on without over tighting and or cracking it?
thanks for help

powdercoating is your best bet, but it will be more expensive.
Remove your valve cover and spray it with some chisel gasket remover (or aircraft paint remover). Once all the paint is stripped off, wash it off with water and let dry. Tape off the sections you do not wish paint to get on (inside spark plug holes, crank-case breather hole) and use HIGH-TEMP paint. 1500deg F is usually best to use.
If you want the stock crinkle-paint look, do a search on painting valve covers and you should find the info needed. I know there is a guy on the board that does it but I dont remember his name.
