Anyways whats the best way to clean these? rubbing alcohol?
Any can you tell me about your experiences with blown bulbs, does the fragments stay in the headlight housing?
I got some silverstars i know they are going to burn/blowout eventually so yea. After these are out of commision, im going to just use cool blues.

9005 are the high beams, you can modify them to fit in the low beam housing
alcohol can be used to cleam then jsut fine.

When a bulb "blows", it doesn't actually explode (at least I've yet to see one). Just the inner filament burns out, creating the smoky residue on the inside of it. No need to worry about broken fragments in your headlight housing.

That depends on how much you drive, too. I rarely drive at night, so my 9005 Silverstar conversion has been going strong for about a year now.

My silverstars lasted 4-6 months. At $25 bucks each I decided that would pay for Hids in 3 years. So I sprang for the full 4100k HIDs and never looked back. No comparison.
I ran the 9006 Silverstars in the low beams, they looked great too. I could barely notice a difference between the 9005 and the 9006 in the low beam housing, it was minimal. Id recommend just going with the 9006 for the lows instead of fugging the 9005 to fit, that is why they only last ~6 months.

Yup, turn on the high beams and they will feel warm as well. It's fine.

Where are you going to get these HIDs, now that they can't legally be sold?
You're better off with better halogens than some badly made HID crap from Mr. Jung or some other fraud.
What you can find probably won't be $400, since supply and demand indicate that with constant demand and diminishing supply, prices go up.
FWIW, I sold my Catz kit and am improving my halogens since parts are unavailable and a bad bulb means I would've thrown $450 down the drain.

I'm using 9006 silverstars in my low beams but i've only been running them for about a month. I decided not to try the 9005 conversion after hearing all fo the "they only last 6-8 months" comments.
Don't HID's really suck on DC2 headlights? Lots of glare from the examples that I've seen. I had a PNP set on my Prelude and the glare wasn't too bad but I still got highbeamed almost every time I drove at night.

They last much much longer than regular halogen bulbs if you install them correctly.
I have seen a truely blown bulb and it was a mess. Pieces everywhere inside the housing.

mess...Anyways 9005 are seriously worth it for the first time you use it. Just when they blow use cool blue 9005 or OEM 9005 those last a while. Anything better then 9006. Just my opinion.
