B20/VTEC 220 WHP, possible with...?
Ok, I am trying to build my motor and gain a respectable 220 horsepower to the wheels. right now, i have just a JDM b20b with JDM GSR tranny, CM stage 3 clutch, aem cai, 5zigen fireball exhaust w/ test pipe, AND... that's it....
my plans are to get or replace:
replace header (dc header got damaged in a wreck...see other post)
get a type r intake manifold
get cp pistons
get different cams (haven't looked into it yet...)
get a GSR head (any preferable year?)
get a fuel pump (unsure to which 1)
Ok, so will this do the trick, or what else do i need in addition to my plan?? i don't want to go turbo, just ALL MOTOR.

Get a skunk2 intake manifold (or the aebs) say no to GSR heads, get a b16, cheap, plentiful, and comes with a stock 3 angle valve job
you'll need to port/polish the head, some VERY agressive cams will be needed, crower or skunk2 stage 3s (built valve train to go with it). and a good 11.5:1 compression ratio will get you about 215-220

You might want to direct this to the all motor forum.
But anyway, you should definately get some higher compression pistons, a b16 head like the other guy said, and you probably want to to look into getting some cam gears, fpr and hondata or vafc (prefer hondata). You WILL need tuning to hit 220.

bump the compression up as high as you can go
run some agressive cams and get a good header, and it should be possible.
However that's just easily speaking. I'm sure you'll realize that that will not come cheaply.
If you can manage to tune it 12.5:1 CR would be ideal for that kind of whp. Look into some EF1 M24 or M25 cams for a serious camshaft.
If you have the money, get some ITBs. The increased airflow will definatly help the compression and lift of those cams.

220 whp will take alot more effort than you expect. With what you listed, you might not even break 190 whp. Do more research.

my friend got 210whp with his b20vtec. I dont know all that he did, but i remember he had a built b20 bottom w/ the JE pistons, all new bearings, seals, arp head bolts, clutchmaster stage3 clutch and 8lb flywheel? etc....then he had an itr head...completely stock itr head. Hondata, i/h/e...that was it. I'm sure there was a little bit here and there that i missed, but his car was a crazy build...couldnt get traction when we were getting on the freeway!
I think its possible if you build the head, get it properly tuned, read up on all the parts that you want to change, and read about other peopls b20vtec builds. Its the only way to do it, and to avoid problems.

wow, if your friend got 210 whp, it gives me hope then because i will be having my car tuned with hondata. i think i'm going to get those ef1 cams... it's gonna cost some money to build all motor, but it'll be fun.
