Default When building a B20VTEC which block is better, B20B or B20Z???

If I am going to be building the bottom end with aftermarket pistons and replacing the head, is there any difference in power output between a JDM B20B and B20Z?

The differences are all in the cams and pistons. If these are to be discarded, there is no difference between the B and the Z.

The only difference is the compression ratio.

But is because of the internals, not the block it self. He will replace them anyways.

the jdm b20b, has the same compression #'s as the usdm b20z. the reason why the us has the 20bz, is because of customers complaining for the crv's lack of power! so in 00, honda brought in the b20z motor to resolve that issue!

um people seem to get this stuff mixed up all the time

OKAY this is the way it

95.5-98 JDM B20B has P3F pistons 8.8
99-00 JDM B20B has PHK pistons 9.6

96-98 USDM B20B has P3F pistons
99-00 USDM B20Z has PHK pistons
** THIS IS FACT GUYS***

Rumors- ALL JDM MOTORS have PHK high compression pistons thats BS
Okay, this IS confermed, I just dunno what it is, its a 9.2 compression B20B that still has P3F pistons in JAPAN... I know NOTHING about this motor.. someone please inform me.

Everything below the line is just MY opinion

95.5-97 b20's have 95 stamped on them
This was the first revision

98+ have 98 cast on them

after comparing a few of the, I have come to the conclusion that the 98 stamped blocks are stronger and have a different casting method with the single sleeve design
