ELD - Electronic Load Detector? what is please help
ok my alt volt reg went bad like 3 times now my turn signals are messed up and the alt charges around 20 volts. not positive yet no multimeter to test it. now this guy i know knows alot about hondas and said it was the eld that went bad and that is causing the problems. but what does it look like and how do u install? anyone know about this?
please help if you know
please help if you know
i don't think your car or swap has an ELD. my 1990 hatchback with 92 b17a swap and obd1 conversion doesn't use ELD either.
well this guy said that that would be the prob of why my volt reg on the alt kept going bad and why my blinkers are messed up
tell the guy he is smoking crack and doesn't know what the hell he is talking about. there is no ELD in any 88-91 Civic/CRX. check this link for the pr3 ecu pinout if you don't believe me:
http://tech2.hybridgarage.com/...pr3_a
that ecu is the same as yours except yours probably doesn't have VTEC, knock, secondary o2

if I remember correctly from the Helms manual, the ELD is inside fuse box on the strut tower. Too bad I am at work and not home to look at the Helms. Anyway, I have never replaced them. I'll get you more info when I got back home.

You smoking crack for making that comment. THEY DO exsist in Civic's and CRX's, only in the US though. Canada does not have them. How do I know this? I have a CDN Civic. I also have a US Si ECU and I constantly have Code 20(ELD) blinking. Read the Honda shop manual before making a statement such as the one above.

damn u beat me to it!!!!
anyways.. my civic its made on canada.... and it does have a ELD>...
the ELD its located inside the main fusebox thats its under the hood.... open it... u see all the big 60A fuses.... next to it theres a plug on the R that has like 4 wires in it... and conects into the actual duse box... thats the ELD.... if that goes bad... u need to go to a yunkyard and get a fusebox
i had all this crapo happened to me before.... and i know waht i am saying.... IMO CHECK, CLEAN, SAND DOWN, AND MAKE SURE ALL GROUNDS IN THE CAR ARE CLEAN AND GOOD!!!!!!!! that caused mine!

damn, i got schooled. fyi, i did check a service manual, the CR-X SiR manual, and it doesn't say anything about ELD (that I could find). also, my 92 b17a swap I know doesn't use it because when I made my obd0 --> obd1 conversion harness that was one of the wires missing from the obd1 plugs that semi-confused me.
B19 its the ECU pin out for the USDM civics and CRX's.... on the ELD... the SiR didnt have a ELD......
D10. its the OBDI pin for the ELD....
u sure u dont have a wire going from B19>D10?????

yes, the P61 ecu doesn't have input from an ELD. I am 100% positive. I looked in the 90-93 integra service manual for a list of the P61 ECU pinouts and ELD is non-existant.

ok well i replaced the fuse box but still the same problem. also still have the problem with my hazards not working and my left blinker not working. the right one does work though. when i put in the new box i turned on my hazards to see if they worked and i blew the 10A in the box. i'll check the grounds today to see if they are good or not. the prob may be the hazards too anyone got any other imput please do so. i need all the help i can get. thanks alot!

Bingo, whenever my buddies call me tellin me what codes they have and what to do about, they always give me the ELD code. If the block isn't sufficiently grounded to the chassis you will always get that code, and it's usually comes from crappy grounds like he said. I got it when i did my ZC swap into my civic, replaced all the grounds with new ones and actually added one extra, bingo code was gone. Do that first, then go from there.
