i sell clifford, but i chose this alarm over that for a reason.

Are you buying the alarm for security or bling factor? The rs3.5 seems to have the same features. They have a couple of minor differences, like turbo timer on the rs3.5, and temp activated starts, and time activated starts on the codealarm.
The remote for the rs3.5 looks like it is huge.
The codealarm will probably have longer paging range from car to remote transmitter, since you can switch the jumper. If I remember correctly when the codealarm with 2 way transmitter came out with "2 mile range" it did not have fcc approval
I am sure it was because of too much transmission power. I noticed an fcc id on the tw-1 though, I assume the jumper is the reason they managed to get fcc approval.
The rs3.5 is going for 300 on ebay, with no mention of warranty. ATF kuk is an authorized dealer for codealarm, and you are getting a lifetime warranty.

About how hard is it to install and alarm like that myself?? Would it come with step by step instructions??

It does come with instructions. But for alarms the instructions are generic. They don't know what kind of car you have. You will need a wiring diagram for your car. You can find them on the net for many cars.
If you have installed a car audio system before you can probably do it.

Go to http://www.directed.com and look at the pager alarms. DEI makes the best alarms by far and is a ISO certified company, so you know their parts are good stuff.
Viper 791 XV.
Unfortunately DEI is phasing Clifford out. The viper warraties are better than the clifford ones now, but only if installed by a certified dealer. . . .
