Default Help: Check engine light came on

as i was driving today my check engine light came on.. idle was at a constant 1200rpm.. car stil drove fine.. after i shut it off for 2 hours start it back up.. check engine light went away.. idle still funny.. (always did) .. what would this be? does the idle control valve set off check engine light? does a lot of driving under hot heat cause this? err.. any help would be appreciated

make sure no conenctors are loose.. like on top of manifold, read the code.. reset ecu.. see if it comes back, then take it from there

Sounds stupid but..... always make sure to click your gas cap at least 4 times. CEL's will come an go if u do not tighten the gas cap each gassing. Just a thought.....

sounds like an intermittent problem. thats why the cel didnt stay on. might be somthing simple. its not the gas cap cause the cel would store a code and not go away. its one of thoes weird incdents. nothing to worry about if it was the cel would stay on no matter if you turn off ur car.

true. Give a code and maybe someone can help. just break a paper clip off and shove it in the blue thing off the ECU Or in Dave's case, use a fork
