Default Clutch Help!

I hadn't driven my 90 accord ex in a while, but the last few times I did, it was OK. Then, after it sat for a few weeks, the clutch would engage right off the floor...took it to the shop- slave cylinder was leaking, so they replaced it and the clutch master cyl. After I picked it up, the clutch was again engaging right off the floor at first, but as I drove it (not far at all), it kept getting higher on the pedal. Now, it's slipping bad. Took it back to the shop and now they say replace the clutch.

I've worn out clutches before on other cars and it was always a gradual thing. The clutch would just engage higher and higher on the pedal until, eventually, it would slip. It just seems odd that 30-40 miles ago, the clutch seemed fine- wtf?

I know the current clutch has at least 75k on it. Maybe it's due, but I just want to sell this car w/o spending any more $ on it.

Any help greatly appreciated.

why dont you take it to another shop and see what they have to say about it.....if you have to replace it, i dont really see any other way of getting around spending money for a clutch.

hmmm....yea I would also take it to another shop to get a second look. 75k seems kinda low for a clutch to be going bad (mine is still original with ~275k). I dunno about the slave cylinder, except make sure they filled it up all the way with fluid. I know the slave cylinder on my moms '94 Accord went out @ 143k, but it worked fine after replacing it. Sorry I couldn't help much

Don't be surprised- we run into this ALOT. Clutch master and slaves are always going out on older hondas. If your clutch is slipping- it needs replaced. As far as your pedal slowly "rising"- they probably didn't get ALL of the air out (these can be a real bitch)- the air will eventually purge itself throught the reservoir.
