generation 2 zc motor
does anyone know what distributor you can use on a 92 and up black top dohc zc motor? i have it in my 88 crx si and the 89 integra/zc gen1 dizzy woint work right. i need a distributor that has an internal cam angle sensor.
if your running obd0 then the si/ex/hf distributor has an internal cam position sensor, you would probably have to modify it to fit and be in time, but it would probably work just fine.
im confused but dont all dohc zc's have an external cam sensor??? i remember making the 2 wire change for that........... if i remember correctly the 89 tegs started to have the b18ls motor in them......... try using an 88........
well thething is i have a 89 integra ecu. 89 teg dizzy, an i cant get the timin right on it. it because i dot have the right dizzy im guessing. and no not all zc have external sensors. i apparently got the rarest of the rare generation 2zc motors that have newer electronics tahtn the gen1. the gen 2 is obd1. so do i need to use a obd 1 dizzy? or onvert everything to obd0? and if i need to convert what do i need? thanks for the help.
first, let's get the terms straight - the OBD0 DOHC ZC has a cylinder position sensor (CPS) on the end of the exhaust camshaft - the crank angle sensor is in the distributor - the 89 integra has the same CPS and distributor as the OBD0 ZC - the OBD1 ZC has the cylinder position sensor in the distributor, like a HF or Si, and at the end of the exhaust camshaft, it is just plugged off - to convert to OBD0 you will need a distributor and you will need OBD0 injectors with OBD0 ECU - to convert to OBD1 you will need to get rid of the injector resistor box and rewire the injectors - you will need OBD1 ECU - unless you have OBD1 ZC ECU, you are kind of stuck using a B18A1 92-93 integra ECU since all of the "performance" engines were VTEC and the ZC isn't - you will need a 4 wire O2 sensor, will need to rewire MAP sensor and probably some others that i can't think of right now - you would probably be better sticking with OBD0 if you can get a distributor to work - check to see if the exhaust camshaft has a slot in the end that would work with the CPS - if so, you could use 88-89 integra CPS and distributor - you would probably need to change the end exhaust camshaft bearing cap also so that you could bolt on CPS
