Is the Kawasaki Ninja 500R a good beginner bike?
I have been looking at getting a bike for a while, I think that I have decided on one. How do you guys feel about the Kawasaki Ninja 500R?
Good, reliable bike. Great for beginners. Smooth power-delivery. Low insurance rates.
Appearance-wise, not my cup o' joe, but to each his own.

Very good beginner bike. I started off on a brand new gix, wish I didnt. Not that I had a problem w/it but a lot of these 600 bikes get you in trouble fast. EX500 is not the best looking, but you will be if you get it
The EX500 (aka ninja 500) is an excellent starter bike.
If you're not into the slimlined version, try looking at a SV650. Also an excellent starter bike.
Both are VERY low on insurance, extremely forgiving power wise and easy to control with comfort

very good info, both are outstanding to learn on. i would lean more to the 500 ex because of the low cost. but the 650 is a great bike as well. they are two different beasts, it all comes down to what kind of bike you'd like to ride
