Sad but true. I own two nice Hondas, but I'm forced to ride around in a shitty little '84 Rabbit in order to KEEP my cars. (i.e. movie theater, mall, work)
The cops in my area should get a PY R and set it up as bait in a different spot every three nights or so. I bet they'd catch a BUNCH of hungry thieves!

H-Pimp: Whats even worse is that I bought a beater partially to keep my honda... and I discovered that I like driving my beater a hell of a lot more than my Teg...
Hey NYTR, how's that IS coming along. I went to Hunts on friday, it was d-e-a-d. So we headed out to brooklyn (greenpoint), man that **** was packed!! Like 200+ cars. So packed there was almost no room to run. But we did get to see some good races. Saturday I went to E-town and I stayed home that night. My boys went back to BK that night but the cops were crackin down hard. Glad I stayed home
I'll talk to you later in the week.

I need to VENT also:
I just bough a Miata. I have been driving it all week with no problems. Loving life. As soon as I hop in my ITR today I am followed by a G2 Teg w/ turbo and 90 HB. So, I just circle the block (MULTIPLE TIMES) with them behind me. They were blipping throttle wanting to race. It just pissed me off !!! All I want to do is get home from work, take off my work clothes and relax. I HATE the import scene. Now, I come home and read about another ITR stolen in my city.
On a side note, the Miata is just as fun (more in some areas=> can't beat RWD and light weight for the fun factor, less in some=> not enough power).

Dave, you may need to start carrying a bat in the R like I do
Nothing like bashing in a ricer/thiefs windshield at the end of the workday.

The funny thing, I now know how a good looking woman must feel ! People always following you, wanting what you got ! It is horrible !! I mean, all I wanted to do was to go home peacefully ! Just because I have an ITR means I want to race ? I know they were just having fun, but it gets soooooo annoying. I am getting too old (29yrs old) for this.
David-ROR are you reffering to your Conquest? Davidnyc, I know what you mean. Anytime I pull out the R I get harrassed by the local rice squad.
An all you guys asked me why I got a black one instead of another PY, Ha Ha Ha...
I know just what you guys feel and have decided to go a few steps further and remove the wing, all badging and emblems. I have a few nice ideas about what it will look like and when we meet again you'll all see.
I actually had a heated disagreement with my wife because she just didn't understand why we coulden't take my car to the movies. We resolved it and instead of going Saturday night We went today while my R is in the body shop getting the scuff on the rear bumper fixed, "no, no accident just a runaway golfcart at my work parking lot!"
All this BS with our cars is just that BS and it has just got to blow over sooner or later I hope.
Good luck guys,
A.
PS Hey Dave have you thought of just covering R up and putting it in storage for a little bit? I mean if it is feasable...

i got my first scare today.
i was speaking with a client at work and see these two guys checking out my car.
after about 5 minutes i excused myself and went to the window where they can see me. i smiled and waived to them, but the just kept on walking around my car. i was parked right outside my office and they were there for at least 15 minutes. at one point the lady i was speaking with got up to look out the window, and she told me they were still there! i have no problem with people checking out my car, but today was scary

Baiting them is an if-y idea. My friend who is a cop said his department does use bait cars but that they ALWAYS get damaged in the process.
Don't think any one here will voluteer for that. But then again i could be wrong.
Good idea though.

Dave-ROR, RWD is lots of fun, can't disagree with you there. Especially when it's turbo.
1Greyteg, I wouldn't count on this just "blowing over" there are far too many 88-01 Civic/Teg's on the road for this to just "blow over". To this day if you park a Buick GN on the street IT WILL GET STOLEN! And thats an '86- '87 model year car, so I suggest you invest in a beater. Cuz ITR's will have a RABID following by thieves for the next decade or so. Count on it. Just an FYI.
Cars that will never go down in theft likelyhood:
'93 Ford SVT Cobra
'86-'87 Buick Grand National/GNX
'94-'01 Integra GSR
'97-'01 Integra Type R
'99-'00 Civic SI (#25 in the top 25 most stolen in 99, ITR didnt even make the list)

H-Pimp: This morning I discovered that my integra was unlocked and the alarm disarmed. Guess I forgot to arm it last thursday. Oh well. I guess I've been lucky with the number of times I leave that car unlocked.. at the mall, at stores, etc. sigh. (knock on wood since it'll probably get stolen now!)
Hey H-Pimp, the IS300 is a nice car. It doesn't have the fun factor the R had and has little much body roll for my liking. The inside is real nice and has a lot more options but if I wanted that I would just borrow my brothers Saab. All in all I think I made a good choice. I ordered the Rod Millen spoiler, grille, and front lip. Should be arriving this week. I am also going to order TRD race sway bars to get rid of all that body roll. The intake will be put on hold til I get a few more miles on the car. We should meet up this weekend. Hopefully the kit will be installed by then.
Sounds good. Only problem is I'm going away this weekend. But if you want we can hit the races in Nanuet tomorrow night (wednsday) pretty good crowd and hardly any cops on weds. Let me know.
Why not just cover up the "R" badges..take off the wing...etc...
Put on a "RS" Badge and some hubcaps and your likelyhood of being stolen drops..

I think the problem is more than just debadging b/c one look on the inside and it screams Type R. Thieves in NY know what they want, so if they see a tach with 8400 redline and Type R seats. Kiss the R goodbye. No hiding a type R unless you park it in the Sopranos garage.

Woh! IT's getting really bad up there in NYC. I am so glad that little theft ring hasn't spread down here to the Philly area yet....
Cheese~ Who doesn't even leave his car unarmed in his own garage!
