LS/VTEC Questions
I have a 94 RS with a B18Bl. Whebn I first got the car about 2 months ago I was pleased with the power, but now I just want more. I reall want a Drag 3 Turbo with abuil engine but cannot afford it. So I was thinking I would just buy a JDM B18C1, but is still a little to spendy and will only be as fast as every other GSR around. Now I am thinking about LS/Vtec. I have put alot of thought into it, and I can do all of the work my self. What I want to do is use JE 11.1 compression Type R pistons, LS Rods with APR rod bolts (will LS rods hold up???), speed balenced crank. CM stage 3 clutch, CM lightened fly wheel, Z10 gridle, B16 head(possibly from a Del Sol), Crower springs, Crower valves, Crower retainers, Type R maiflod, over bored TB. How much power could you estimate for this setup to produce, would it handle high RPM's with ls rods, if I really have to I could probably get some Crowers but those are like $650 more!!! I think im on there right track, my question is, I also want to up grade my tranny? I want a GSR tranny, but as far as I can tell they cost alot of $$$, So will the Y21/S21 (Del Sol, Civic SI) tranny benifit me in any way? Also what about cams and ECU??? I heard that the Type R cams are to loppy for the Ls/Vtec? Is this true, I want to Stick with honda cams for now due to money so would the GSR cams be a good choice??? Also with the ECU, I cant decide what I want, will a stock Del Sol or GSR ECU be a good choice, possibly re-chiped??? Any help and advice will be nice, I want to be able to complete my engine over the winter, so I have a little time to decide on different parts.
