Default 20x8 slicks to small?

Setup:
210 whp H22 Civic
2200 lbs w/ driver
MT 20x8 14" slicks

Are these to small? Should I use a 22x8? With 205/50R15 tires I'm crossing the line in 4th at almost 7K rpm. That tire is 23" diameter. Should I go with the 22" slick?

Let's do this right if you give me your Overall FD gear and what size is your gear in 4th and what speed and rpm you want to be @ threw the traps, IM me and we can cook something up. Good Luck John@M&H-Hashim's

If you use the formula to figure it, its looks like this:
Speed in 4th gear at 8000 rpm is
(8000 rpm * 5.2333 ft) / (1.034 * 4.266 * 88) = 107.86 mph

If I shift at 7900 instead it drops it to 106.51 mph
If I shift at 7800 it drops it to 105.16 mph

The question is, will I be going that fast at the 1/4 mile?

I'm using the 23" MH slicks now and they're too big for my setup...1950lbs w/ me, 203whp and 158tq, 12.4's @ 106.8mph. I'm switching back to 22's this weekend...i should run low 12's w/ higher mph. 20's will be way too small...you'll be well into 5th gear with those.

Hi (ranta18) You have a 4.41 FD in 4th gear, here is my # . You use a 20" slick @ 7100 rpm you will be going 95 mph, now @ 7500 rpm is 101 mph now @ 8000 rpm is 108 mph. I am close with in 2-mph. Now the ? is the HP you have will the 20" slick hold up and not spin, it just depends on how you set the car up. So you have the 20" slicks so put them on and find out and report back with us and let us know how you did. GOOD LUCK and to you. John@M&H-Hashim's

easy way to figure............

http://nonsense.netfirms.com/speed.html

I've been using this layout for 21 years now.

MT 20x8x14 slick is only good to 200 hp with a stock or CF DF clutch. A more agressive clutch will just result in wheel spin.
