Default Great....I have no reverse now...What to do?

Well on the way home from work i was enjoying the fact that it was really cool out and so i wanted to push my car (as always)....So my dumbass misshifts 2-3 and i grind the hell out of 3rd.. The next morning i am about to pull out of my house and what do you know......NO REVERSE!!!

Now i know that 5th and reverse are the same gear..but my 5th works, but it grinds . So What the hell else could be wrong?? Im going to try the GM tranny fluid that ive had laying around and see if that clears something up....Any other opinions/suggestions???

Thanks

so will the shifter not go into the reverse spot, or will it go in, and there's nothing there but neutral?

will it go into fifth while you are at a standstill with the clutch engaged? if so, then try putting it in and out of fifth and reverse and see if it will slide into reverse.

Man, there was a thread on superhonda.com but the site is down. The guy advised pushing in the clutch...then try to put it into reverse....keep trying to put it into reverse (applying pressure to get it into gear) while slowly letting out the clutch. I know this sounds weird but he sais that it will eventually go into gear.

Sorry for being a little vague...but this is all I remember.

He said that he took his car to Honda and they wanted to replace the tranny...so he figured he might as well try this since they were going to change the tranny anyways. It worked.

Hope this helps.

all i do is put the clutch down, then just quick shift 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th, neautral then reverse....sometimes that works

you might have been the shift for for reverse, try getting the car to roll a little and pop it in

I'm not knowledgable with these cars at all, but I remember hearing something one of my buddies do, they have to put their civic, and new accord into 1st b4 they put it into reverse or it will grind. Weird, but Maybe that might help a little? or is this just a myth??
