rear window defrost prob...help

Default rear window defrost prob...help

if i let my car warm up for 5 minsor 30 mins, my rear window doesnt defrost,, how cani fix it i would like o see out o it when driving u know. can i replace something??

#1 - is the light on the r. defrost switch comming on? If not, it's probably just a blown fuse.

#2 - check that the wire is connected to both sides of the grid. turn the r. defrost on and connect a meter or test light to both wires, you should get 12 volts between them. if not, one of the wires is bad.

#3 - carefully inspect each of the lines on the glass. If there's a break anywhere on the line, that line is dead. this is what happended to mine. the previous owner decided to tint the window, then changed his mind and removed the tint with a razor blade, cutting over half of the lines. the best fix for this is to replace the rear window, but at $350.00, it's not the most economical solution. Napa (and probably most other auto parts stores) sells a repair kit. basically looks like electrically conductive finger nail polish. it's really hard to get it to look good, but it works.

bump....yeah since i am still a trial member i can only post 5 a day..ehh so it took me another day to get back to u,, thnx fr the info it was just a dahm fuse..lol now it defrost's, faster,, smple stufflike thatr is often'd overlooked..

i am about 4o miles north of u.. thnx again
