Default Is the Honda scene really fading away???

I dont know if it is just me, but i have seen the import scene fading away. Specificaly i am talking about Honda scene. Im in Southen Cali where the biggest Honda scene is, and for some reason it seems like Drifting is taking over. OH ya man im going to do a S13 swap..oh ya man im all Nismo'ed out..damn did u see that nice as FD with the FMIC..initial D initial D i need to get and AE86 now. Not to bag on drifting but it seems like they are taking over in a sense. All that drifting stuff and the more rice on Hondas made me think about this. And reading the thread on the stolen Ef and the kid wanting to get out of the scene made me think about it even more. I can only speak about where im located so fill me in on your spot and throw in ur two pennies...

Honda just isn't making the cars it used to. Debate that all you want but it is sadly true.

I know I started modifying my CRX because it was relatively new and there were alot of options to make it go fast. If I was reliving that part of my life now, I probably would've gone out and bought something like a WRX or even Mazdaspeed Protege.

There's a lot of cool sports cars out there now that weren't there 5-6 years ago. Competition will draw people away.
The domestics are actively courting the sport compact market. So what does Honda give us? A turd Si and a lukewarm RSX. The last Civic Si looked like a step in the right direction but Honda eventually fumbled.

same thing goes for me as the other 2, hopefully by 2005, honda will realise this and step it up like everyone else has.

but you have to realise that honda's main goal isnt a "performance" car, its a reliable, high mpg, commuter. with a few exeptions.

the "Si" model is weak, i mean really weak, IMHO
the type S rsx instead ot the itr, i mean cmon.

honda has droped the ball lately, lets see if they will pick it back up and run with it, or if they will go cower in the corner. LIKE I SAID THIS IS ALL IMHO NOT TRYING TO OFFEND ANYONE.

I agree with you guys 100%. The new Hondas are just bleh. If we got a Civic Type R Im sure I would change my mind. Without a doubt there are alot better compacts to buy now for the money.

Lets face it, the S2000 is the only new Honda I'd actually want to own. Acura, on the other hand, seems filled to the brim with cars I'd want to own: RSX-S, TSX, new TL, NSX.

So, maybe it's not all bad

Face it, Honda has become a giant sell out since Soichiro kicked the bucket. Yeah, they're selling a decent amount of commuter cars but, as stated above, so is Hyundai. If that's you're measure of success...well, Honda is doing pretty well.

And if you're going to call people names, get it right...I'm a dick.

I hope not that means that my friends and i can't show up to underground racing shows driving in a "V" formation...that would suck.

i hope i dont' have to sell my double deck aluminum wing, which clearly helps my rear wheels keep traction on my fwd vehicle.

its "fading" i guess.. but its also evolving. As people said before, Honda isn't making as good of a car (again IMO) than before. that and the competition is tougher than before. so that has something to do with it as well i think.

Personally, I wont get another Honda for a while. I'm very happy with my EF cars, and i will keep em, but if i have the choice for a new car, a honda prolly wont make the list.

The honda, import and automotive scene in general are all evolving.

honda is making just as good of cars now as they did the previous gen..
The difference now is like schwanginpt said the competition is tougher..

as almost a direct result of the aftermarket import (honda) scene we have a sport compact from nearly every auto manufacture.
and not to mention STi and the EVO. honda dosent make supercars never have never will (NSX exception) they build good solid well refined fun to drive cars.

.

That is horrible, if you think the scene is fading away then leave now if you want out. How could you drive the car and then talk **** about it. Obvioulsy it just means your broke and had no choice so you came across a cheap EF and now you were stuck with it cause in all reality you have no money to "step out" and buy another car that you would want. Sure, some ricers/trend ****** are slowly backing away from hondas and getting 240sx and ****, but the real enthusiasts will still always love hondas for the same reason we started to love them.

Be Gone with your ricer selves.. leave the civic boneyard deals to the big boys :D

Amen.... I hope the "scene" is fading away. I miss the days of just cruising down the road in my EF without everyone and their mother assuming that I'm a "Street-Racer". I dunno. Thank God it's going, now we can all go back to the way it used to be, simple, low key, and fun. Then maybe, just maybe, we'll see some more quality stuff from Honda in a few years.

The Drifting/RWD scene will never take over the Honda scene. at least in the near future.

IT will be popular.. wanna be drifters with S13s, ae86s.. etc. but not many will ever be at a level in which they can drift like the PROs can at D1, etc.

The K series is the next generation of honda.. and its just getting started.

Well I personally work for Honda so I know where the company is going. Like someone said earlier, Honda's goal is to build a great car that's reliable but yet fun to drive. They will still make the sporty cars, but they will usually stay with 1 per line.
Honda for me is not just a scene, it's a passion.
