Thule Roof Rack, any experience?
I was wondering if anyone has the Thule Roof Rack system for their Accord. I'm heading across the country and taking a bike and skiis and although it seems a little pricey they look pretty nice, just wondering if anyone has any experience with them. I'm looking at the standard upright bike carrier and the cheapo ski carriers, I figure at hotels I'll bring the skiis and Bike into the room with me.
The current model is the 400 Aero Foot pack and looks like I need some sort of fit kit... Any just looking for some advice and any and all is appreciated.
Thanks!

I own several mountain bikes but don't use a carrier..
I have several serious MTB friends that use nothing but Thule racks..
look into the racks the invole removing the front wheel to lock the bike down with the included wheel locks.. these work the best..
the ones w/ that "lobster claw" thing that clamps on the down tube are a bitch to work with..they scratch your bike and involves lifting the bike onto to the car with no clearance from the front tire w/ it attached..
Most Thules also come w/ an air/bug deflector and looks cooler also.. : )
btw.. Thules keep their reselling rate and wouldn't be hard to get rid off if it you didn't like/need it anymore..

I went online and the price came up as 401 bucks, that was for the multi purpose rack, and a ski and a bike holder. I will have to see if the price changes using the bike mounting that mounts to the fork instead of the whole front wheel... I know they sell the wheel holder separate... It seems like a really good rack tho and I am guessing once you buy one you've got it for life.
Anyhow thanks for the input!

I have a Thule on my 5th gen. Nice rack. Great hardware, solid fittings, etc... But you need to be careful where the rubber feet rest on the car, or you'll get paint scuffs. Also, on mine, anyway, the feet don't line up all that well with the roof lines, so the fit isn't great. I also don't leave it on the car for long stretches, because the clamps seem to be kind of hard on the door seals.
Nice thing about a Thule, though, is you can get additional feet, and use the same rack on different cars. I have clamps for my MR2 as well, and plan to get some for my wife's Passat wagon carrier bars (if I can find them).

Well I went to the bike store and purchased the whole rack... seems nobody discounts the racks but the one bike store I talked to they gave me 10% off everything... so given nobody else would even budge I think I did OK. I got the 440 Foot set, the 117 fit kit (supposedly for the Accord) the Visa Grip bike rack, a single ski holder, and two lock cylidners... the price came out to be $373.01. Not too bad and it includes the fairing as well (not the HUGE THULE across it just has it in the corner... figured it would maybe help keep down wind noise as well as resistance) Should be in by beginning of next week, they had almost all the parts except the fit kit and the only fairing they had was the HUGE one and it sorta looked a little too huge. For some reason tho I still picutre me going around a turn and the bike and skis go flying off. LOL. Hopefully not.
