Seems like such a simple question, doesn't it?

Okay, first things first: There IS no 1.7L D16A6 (unless it's been stroked and bored). The D16A6 is a 1.6L motor (hence the "16" in the name). But since it's a D-series - and NOT a D16A1 first-gen Integra motor - it will fit right in there. It will bolt to your HF transmission if you really want it to, but I can't imagine why anyone would do that. An Si transmission will go in as well, or a DX. For off-the-shelf transmissions, the Si is the best-performing of the US transmissions, so that's usually what people go for.

Now, if you get the Si transmission, you'll be wanting different axles. And that means you *may* (get confirmation on this from someone more knowledgeable about HFs) need new hubs as well. That might not be a bad thing - you can upgrade to an Si front suspension while you're at it, and get better brakes in the bargain.

But the Si (D16A6) motor will drop in and use the existing motor mounts, radiator, hoses, etc.

As for wiring, I'm not sure if you have to do anything special to the wiring or not. You'll need an Si ECU to run that engine, though. There are no doubt a few people around here who can walk you through any wiring issues that might come up.

All in all, it's supposed to be easier to swap an Si engine into an HF than it is to swap an Si engine into a DX. The HF already has the MPFI setup, which is better than the DX's crappy DPFI setup.

Mike

PS: Help us out a bit - what year is the engine you're looking at, and the transmission, if you're looking at swapping that as well? There are certain things to keep in mind when it comes to D-series transmissions.

hey Kwicko, nice to see you over here.
About the axles. You can use the HF axles. they will fit the Dx or Si transmission no problem. If you go to Si or DX axles, then you need DX or Si hubs.
I'd like to see that 1.7L D16!
