Default mb quart or focals? help me which is the best choice and why

I have two choices to choose from. Help me pick between each and why should I pick em. There isn't any audio place around me so that I can demo them. They are going in my civic 2000 coupe. I am looking for clear and crisp vocals. My spending range is around $350 shipped.

-MB QUART QM218.61Q Q Series 6.5" Components

- Focal Polykevlar 165 K2 6.5" components

Thank You

i would choose the focals over the mb quartz because the it is a more balanced speaker. the quartz are too bright for my ears, but the polyk's are a lil birght also.

how are u going to get these for around 350 shipped? ebay?

Not familiar with focal, but I do know that the MB's are crisp, clean and normally expensive but the sound coming out of them is very loud and brilliant. I wish I would have bought them but instead I went with Eclipse mids and highs. Still very crisp, clean and loud.

350 shipped for a PAIR of Focal PolyKevler compnents. You must be high. They'll be more than that from a dealer.

Not high. I going to get them off of ebay. Yes, no warranty, but save me a couple hundred dollars... Dealers would cost much more

Yeah man the warranty is pretty important especially if you listen to your radio loud from time to time. I have blown everything in my car more than twice now and the warranty service number is my best friend!! This is a competetion truck of course but still man even the slightest bit of a bad wiriing job and say goodbye to 350 focals. Get something not so expensive at a real shop. its worth it believe me

In one year I have blown a diamond audio tdx, arc 1500dr(twice) and the kicker midbasses. Warranty is definately my friend.

according to a handful of people...the focals you are interested in blow away the
competition by far.

Can't stress this enough:
WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!! WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!! WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!! WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!! WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!! WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!! WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!!WARRANTY!!

Get the point! It will be worth it in the end. Look at it like this. If you buy them off e-bay for 350 shipped. You install them, then two months later some freak incident and,.....they blow. You think well I'll go get something else or another pair. $200-$300 and now you've spent the equivalent of what you would have paid from a dealer with......guess what......WARRANTY!!
Just my .02 cents

It seems as if this is a running trend. Many people don't like quart because they say the tweets are tooo overpowering. IMO that's not a bad thing cuz I would like to be able to hear my high's along with my mids and bass (which I have quite a bit of bass). Personal preference

But the thing is the tweeter is so bright that it seems to "overpower" the mids. especially in stock mounting places like integras where the tweeter is near your face and the mids are down pointing at your legs.

Get an EQ if you think your highs are too bright...i just turn up the mids a bit louder than the highs and bam it sounds awesome. I am running 6 sets of Focal Poly Kevlars in my car...a set of K2s up front and just regualr Ks the rest of the way around and The eq works wonders. First you need to know how to control it but it doesnt take a genius to figure it out.

u make it sound so easy to just turn the dial for the mids up and then boom there u go. the average person does not know how to work an eq. first off, i dont think the average 5 band or 7 band will cut it. u will need at least a 13 band eq. the more adjustable bands u have, the better it can sound, but it is harder to adjust correctly; anything after 30 bands is useless. i think the only real way to adjust it correctly is with a RA or u can adjust to wut u think sound the best.

yeah now that i think about it it may not be that easy...i have been dealing with stereos for quite some time now maybe thats why i think its so easy. If you want it to sound nice there are poeple who tune stereos...thats your best bet... lol

I think a 5-7 band with adjustable q can get you in the ball park. Most people don't want to pay the money to be completely accurate, but it will take care of gross frequency response problems.
