Maybe Im stupid but.....BOV question.
I havent installed my turbo yet but I was doing some hacking to my bumper to get my intercooler to fit for the future install. Well my BOV was laying there so I decided I would hook it up to a vacum source off of my manifold to see if I could get it to open up. Yeah I know Im a dork.
But anyway I hook it up and start the car and go look at my BOV to realize that it is fully opened just while sitting there Idleing. Is this supposed to happen? I always thought that it stayed closed untill you had at least some sort off positive presure aplied to the BOV in the charge pipe.

its perfectly normal</TD></TR></TABLE>
Well can some one tell me how the hell Im supposed to put a filter on this BOV? Wrap some cloth around it?

lol... not ALL BOVs come with or have the ability to use a filter... Greddy's you can add one on kind of ghettoly, but the Blitz ones have em

I could be wrong, but with the BOV should be open when the throttle plate is closed or partially closed(idle). You have more vac when the throttle is closed, so the BOV is pulled open. I don't think it would be doing its job if it was closed as you shifted(less throttle/more vac) or open during acceleration(less vac).

i don't "figure", I KNOW. I work on a LOT of boosted cars, ALL across this shitty nation of ours. And everytime i run into one of these suckers, it's either leaking or the spring is busted, or it's cracked.
they are cheaply put together, using cheap material, with a cheap design.
They are ****

Also I remember seeing a friend with a WRX that had a aftermarket BOV. His stayed closed while idleing.

Uh, no ... not at all, stays closed ....
However from what you are describing either you have a leak or you have not hooked it up to your piping ... (again just guessing from what you are describing at top)

Have you put your new kit on yet?? Ill see you at IDRC this Sunday. I should have my civic there with the new kit.
Sorry to get off the topic.
Anyways, all the BOV's that I have seen are always closed at idle and open only when it changes from boost to Vac.
