Please help with slicks
Im running 25x8 M&H slicks. Ive only ran on them one time so far. The other day I was looking at the tires and I noticed something. On the slicks you can see what part of the slicks are making contact with the track and what isnt. On both sides there is a area of about 1/2 inch that has not been making contact. At first I thought camber but if its on both sides of the tire that rules that out. I was running about 10 psi or so when I ran in the tires once heated up (maybe 11-12 but no more than that). How do I fix this problem? Do i need to run more air or less. Please help.
less air if you want the tire to cover more surface area...also dont forget that slicks grow too...so that might have something to do with it...but Im sure someone will give you a direct answer

Hi (Boosted99Si) Drop down 1-psi, it don't take much to get the contact patch to clear up. You only have one run on the slicks, so don't worry be happy
.Try this before you go to the track air the slicks up to 30-psi and then drop the air pressure down to 9-psi, that way the slicks will take a set and form it's shape. It's called post inflate, Good Luck. John@M&H-Hashim's

Their are four thing's that come to mind.
#1- One Slick is taking more of a load and it's spinning faster then the other.
#2- Or you have more HP then you thought and you need to step up a size, because you are spinning the you know what out of it.
#3- You have gotten the most out of the slicks, and you need to move up in size.
#4- You have to much air pressure in the slick's, and causing the slick's to spin.
Let me know what you come up with, Good Luck. John@M&H-Hashim's

Why is one tire harder than the other? Like different compouds. Sidewalls # are the same. All motor 1.65 60"s 7-9 psi depending on track conditions.

Hi ( jdmoutlaw ) I like the name, sorry it took me soooooo long to get back with you, I was @ a race in Vages. Now to answer your ?, It's because one slick was turning fast then the other and it gumballed the slick and when that happen's, it will it will feel softer then the other. John@M&H-Hashim's

I rotate tires each time out . Just switched to a spool and its allways the same tire . So unless the tire is shorter how can it turn faster. I dont want you to think im knocking the tires, just want to understand whats happening.
Also my old m@h did not do this, same size.
outlaw is an old joke with my friends

Hi (jdmoutlaw) It's me again, look on the side wall and if each slick say's HB-11, they are the same compound. You should not have to rotate the slicks each time out, if the slicks are wearing different after let say 10-20 passes, yes but you do not have to rotate everytime you make a pass. Like I said before maybe you are making more HP or it's the set up on the car.
