Default IL: Chicago area: Auto-Show in Motion

there is this auto-show-auto-x sort of event coming up and i was wondering if anyone is planning on attending or has done one like that before

http://www.autoshowinmotion.co...=ASIM

from FAQ above:
Q. What vehicles are available at the event?
A. There will be over 100 vehicles for you to choose from, including Cadillac, Lexus, HUMMER, Mercedes-Benz, Buick, Toyota, Corvette, Saturn, Saab, Pontiac, Nissan, Chevrolet, Honda and GMC.

driving a 5.7l z06 should be quite a different experience compared to the ITR right?

Me and splitime are going... figured why the hell not?

I seriously hope they let us have some sort of real 'fun' in the Z06, which is the only reason I'm going.

Chris - who signed up for early sunday AM to make sure he didn't have to deal with all the stunnaZ that will inevitably show up.

I'd love to come down and drive a '04 Cavalier with the fantastic dime store interior package.

I don't think it will even be worth it. I just have that feeling that 500 people will be waiting to drive the Z06, and all I'll be able to drive is a cavalier or a lesabre or something

Guys, I went to the Auto-Show in Motion event at Alameda, CA

It was quite a funny phoenomena to see around 50 people lining up for BMWs and Lexus and none for GM car despite the fact that there are more GM cars available for test drive.

Also, the Z06 was not available. It was great fun driving the H2 through their offroad course though.

One more thing, it's not intended to be an autocross event like Mazda's Rev It Up. I almost got evicted for driving close to their own "track speed limit" in the Cadiliac CTS. The track limit was something like 30 mph and I was trying to take all hairpins at the speed limit and car was understeering like crazy and tires squeeling looking for grip. Then the flag guy yelled at me telling me stay to the speed limit , and I yelled back "I was under the speed limit". Then the next corner, same thing happened again and it wasn't a happy experience.

I love the Mazda policy, they just let you do whatever you want with their cars

H2 on the offroad sounds fun though.

I have a feeling this is going to suck.

One more thing:

When you test drive the Corvette or the H2, there is a guy sitting beside you and when the guy thinks you are going too fast. They would shift it to neutral (for H2 and automatic Vette). If you drive the manual Vette though, they can't do anything about it

I brough my mom to the event and she scared the H2 guy sitting at the passenger seat she was driving so fast down the slope the bumper almost hit the ground

I drove like a granny in comparison
