Stolen GS-R Parts on eBay?
Alright I came across a set of GS-R wheels on eBay that have the same tires mine did when it was stolen 2 mos ago. The seller lives two states away from me, but it is still a possibility they could be mine. I was going to e-mail the seller, but I don't really know what kind of questions to ask to find out if they are legitimate without making it seem like I am accusing the guy of selling stolen parts. Should I even bother?
Approach him from the point of view of a very cautious buyer. Lay down some story about you running across of lot of stolen 'Teg stuff. (pretty easy to believe considering the theft rate of our cars) And just say that you'd like to see proof of purchases before making a bid just to cover your bases.
But really ... it's not that big a coincidence to have the same tires.

Even though, its was "your wheels", can you blame another a person when a person sells them to another? Then that other sells it to someone else? It's been paid for by the 2nd hand buyer. Can't do to much if its in so so situation. -=P
Ok, enough to confuse people, I wouldnt bother, since I cant accuse someone for having the same integra as I. -=P Wouldnt be just right.

i disagree, if in fact it turns out that this guy happened to have stolen your tires and you're able to verify this, you can (at the very least) give him feedback that could ruin his little ebay name. selling stolen merchandise doesn't look good in feedback. i do agree, however, if you wish to pursue this to ask it generally, ask for a warranty, proof of purchase, etc.

Uhh yeah, actually you can. It's illegal to purchase stolen property. It doesn't matter how many times its changed hands. Anytime you're buying from a private seller, you should be very cautious and always get complete documentation.

unfortunately, just because he does have the same tires doesn't mean they are your old ones.
they may be, but if i got mine jacked i couldn't blame every shitsack seller on ebay that they stole my rims because they have XGT v4 tires.

If you have some really weird tires like me, then I would be thinking he is selling my stuff... but like what others said, there is nothing you can do about it.
Maybe you can email the seller for more information. I bet he won't have reciept, since most of the used stuff we buy came from another person, not from a shop. But if it really is your stuff, you can contact the police and tell them that guy is a possible thieve.

You can't feedback someone for anything unless you complete a transaction, good or bad.
If you could there would prolly be ALOT more ppl with negative feedback. hell i'd leave negative feedback just for some of the dumb stuff i see on ebay lol

i'm also wondering what kind of tires they are? are they really that rare?
also for those saying to ask for proof of purchase...not everyone makes receipts like that. When i sell my stock blades soon, cash in my hand, wheels to the buyer. Since there's no VIN on the wheels, it's nearly impossible to verify if they're yours.
Maybe people should start engraving something on the inside of their wheels

GSR wheels are a dime a dozen. And i'm sure theres more than 1 set of GSR's with the same tires you had. Since you said he lives 2 states away, chances are they aren't your stolen wheels. Theres always the possibility of course, however its just to hard to prove with an item like that. Now if you had old pictures of the wheels with unique scratches on them, and they matched the scratches shown on the auction then you would have a case.
its really a waste of time because the tires don't do anything as a form of ID. Unless you have acid etch, or engraved something to REALLY ID them as your wheels... you lose. I mean you can know for a fact that they are your rims, but if you can't prove it to the law and get them back. Whats the point?

I have a desk drawer in which I toss every receipt I get that's over $20. Once a year, I clean it out and file them all. It's that easy. If I ever need to return anything, or if someone wants to see a proof of purchase, then I have it. ...might have to dig around a little, but it's there.
