Default Problem with race car, contributions welcomed...What would cause a car to fall flat on its face afte

I dynod my car at 600whp and approx 400tq this friday. I raced on Sunday but am having SERIOUS traction gremlins. I run the full tube chassis set up with wheelie bars the works, 28'' slicks. On video replay the car appears to spin 1st gear more than I would like then falls flat on its face in 2nd below the boost range. I managed a mid 11's with my new set up becuase of this problem.
Note the track is very shitty where i race. I use a y21 gearbox with a 4.4 FD ( I have to check gearbox to make sure FD because the box was a spare and havent been opened yet)anyway...
My question to you techies..
What would cause a car to fall flat on its face after pulling 1st.

you shift from 1-2 and it bogs? only there?
your shifting too early. yeah the wheels are spinning and your at the redline but the cars speed isnt anywhere near the optimal point so when you shift to second, revs fall to low and she a goes no where.(the tires must have a decent amt of time to hook up then...so that could mean slow shifting too)
trying holding first gear longer (bouncing off the limiter) or try something else to help you hook up better. and maybe shift faster???

thats my take on this anyways.
i could be off Ive never driven a drag race car before but I guess Ill see if I know half of something about it.

you should look into a gear based boost controller.

i have to let my car hit the rev limiter about 3 times in first before i shift or it will bog when going into second. with the charger u are using i would say you are falling out of boost and it has to recover. you might have to use a small amount of nitrous to keep you going. thats just my 2 cents.

I am looking at nitrous, faster shifting, and REALLY sitting on that rev limitor. Its hard to hear your car when you a racing a turbocharged v8 with a helmet and the sift light flickering. I guess I need more seat time, but I was talking to John maybe something else can be done???

Well I have only been officially racing 5 years now, a lot of people wont ask for help on this site because of pride, competitors etc. I live out of the US so I dont give a ****. I took my street car to 13's my old race car (no chromoly and no front built chassis) into 11.s. And I took Johns old chassis to 10's on a track that you might not even consider a track. I may not be Kenny Tran but give me a good a track more time (out of work) and I may do a thing or two. I have been thinking of bringing the car to the US for a while...just playing with the Idea.

do you have any sort of data logger? see how low the rpm's drop between gears. I think if its a gsr trans taking first to 10k you will drop to about 5800rpms, and a b16 will fall to about 6300rpms going into second. if you fall below these numbers your not getting the car up to it's max speed in that gear. my car did the samething last year, till I switched to a b16/type r trans. you might also consider a multi stage boost controller and turn down the boost in first. nick

make sure you have consistent a/f and timing when u shift gears because if u dont, u could be hitting a hicup and that could make your car bog inbetween shifts.

My guess is its falling out of boost for a sec. Bounce of the rev limiter for a little bit.

I think I need a lot more seat time. This car is animal and not easy to control. What makes it worse is that the shifter is on the right which is opposite to what we are accustomed to. IN Trinidad the shifter is on the left (right hand drive )like the JDM

hold 1st out , many people have the same problem.... after you bog, you are wasting a lot of time letting that big turbo spool back up....also experiment with launch rpm, and tire pressure to help get more speed up before you 1st to 2nd shift, if you can power shift, if power shifting does not help then you deffently do not have enough vehicle speed up. as far as the shifter I feel your pain, last time I drove a right hand drive car I kept grabing the door handle when I was trying to put the car in reverse

you're most likely falling out of boost between shifts. there's a ton of ways to help remedy that. squeeze, run higher compression, smaller turbine housing, switch to long tube equal length headers, tuning, gearing, etc, or any combination thereof. personally i'd go w/ the long tube mani. first. not only will it help w/ spool, it will also make the car a bit easier to drive as power delivery is a bit smoother.

are you using a 2 step boost controler? that would also help to keep you from spinning so bad in 1st gear. use lower boost til mid 2nd, or begining of 3rd.. just my .02

and we would love to see you bring that beast State side!! get it over here, and enjoy the well prepped tracks, you may never want to go back

Im taking out the greddy and putting in the innovative, Im gonna play with gearing maybe try a 4.7FD. I might even hook up a single shot wired for lower rpm.
