Type-S v.s Gt-s...I know this is "Honda-tech"...but please honest opinons
well, I'm close to owning a type s next month when the 04' comes out. I'm really behind it and all and have the confidence that it can out perform a lot of my friends riced out sentra's and celica's. What i'm trying to say is, should I have any doubts about my type-s losing to a celica gt-s.? See my buddy is a die-hard TRD fanatic and he feels so confident that when I do get the type-s that he can beat it. I don't wanna be bias or anything but I feel my money will be well spent on this type-S. But what i wanna know is, who has raced or encountered a rsx type-s and raced the gt-s? which is better in speed, acceleration etc..what's your opinion and thoughts? facts would be good!
thanks H-T

I honestly don't think you will have any trouble beating the shitty Celica and it's Yamaha engine. Sorry I am being biased, I can't stand the Toyota company and what they stand for, which is nothing of value by the way.

sounds good too me...yea i'm not quite the toyota fan either, reason being is my town is infested with these things, and they swear there the fastest imports, well stock anyways...
Stock vs stock they should be pretty close in the straight line... Celica handles slightly better in the stock form because of the pos tires on the rsx. But once you start modifying there's no comparison... The rsx-s responds very well to the mods
now if u go to a celica website they're gonna tell u the exact opposite. the celica's are quick, but stock for stock an rsx should take it unless....... it's a "pre" rev-limit model. lol for those who don't know i guess there was a reacall on the early '02 gt-s because they had like a 9k rev limit.

celica gts and rsx-s stock to stock are almost exactly even, given equal bolt on mods they are still very close.
how to beat gts ? get CAI and hondata 4 reflash, and u will whoop your friend's *** so bad he will want to have a RSX-S

I've seen many quarter mile runs between the two cars both stock and modified, the type s is usaully a couple tenths quicker probably due to the more torque from the larger motor.

ohh, I have no doubt that I will get my buddy to trade or sell his sorry *** gt-s for a honda..but this sounds promising. Damn 3 and a ha;f more weeks I can actually touch my 04' type-s!!...(oh yeah I took out an extra loan) why? cause Cybernation is gonna get a call from me as soon as I get my ride. HaHah...
Oh yeah I dunno if it's in my best interest too boost it right away? I know I gotta break in the motor first, but on these new k20's how many miles approx? I'll race the gt-s stock first, but I won't tell him next time that it be boosted. I know it doesn't sound fair, but the the bastard deserves a good whippin..

pls don't mag race here, this is honda-tech, not clubsi.com
GTS and RSX-S are both high 14 - low 15 cars, those mag number shows nothing. and Toyota's performance is not laughable, GTS have good handling and same performance on straight line compare to rsx-s. not to mention Supra, MR2, MR-S ..etc are all great cars

i'm sorry but the Mrs. in stock form is not a great car. in japan they've done amazing things with that spyder but still..... it's still a joke in the states.
i feel that it's safe to say that the type S will own the GT-S as far as aftermarket potential goes. and yes, those type S tires...

As much as I liket he rsx-s better.. depends on what year the gt-s is and what mods it has.. The older [8200 redline] gt-s gains funny amounts of power from trd exhaust/aem cai/headers.. it got ~13whp? Whatever rsx's are nicer either way.. You can win in both catergories.. hopefully.
this one is all down to the driver......who ever gets off better or shifts better will probably win.
Also if he has a newer Celica you will have a better chance, cause it is very very hard to keep that car in its higher lift cam (vvtli) from 1-2 shift cause they lowerd the rev limiter.....but it really is all on the drivers

What the GT-S has going for it is better handling, much better brakes and less weight. The RSX mods better though, plus it costs about $2000 less typically since Acura deals a lot on them since they don't sell. Toyota doesn't move on the Celica prices very much. You'll also have to take what you can find with the Celica since they only come with "popular options", whereas the RSX-S is basically loaded.
There is a litte misinformation I wanna clear up.
Stock for Stock the GT-S and RSX-S are as close as it comes when it comes to straighline performance. Stock The RSX dynos about 5-10whp more than a GTS but the GTS weighs about 300lbs less which makes them similar power weight and a slight edge to the GTS in terms of torque/weight.
The 2002 GTS is the only year with the ECU glitch, it can only be revved to 7600-7800 before fuel cut off, making it impossible to land lift or "onto the second cam". The 2002 GTS posted some rediculous slow mag times because of this, seen 15.6 and even a 15.8!! Imagine falling out of VTEC on every shift by 500-800rpms and you'll see why they are so slow.
Fortunately for 2003 that ECU glitch is fixed and revs to 8400rpms once again allowing it to land into lift every gear change.
SCC 8 great rides for 2001
Celica GT-S
0-60 in 6.6
1/4 in 14.9
SCC quickest time for the RSX-S in the 1/4 stock is 15.0. As you can see a non 2002 GT-S and RSX-S are very similar stock for stock.
People on ClubRSX have gotten 14.8 stock and People on NewCelica have gotten 14.8 stock.
They are pretty even up to I/H/E, then RSX has Hondata ECU which gives them another 15-20whp, but in a couple weeks monkeywrench racing is releasing tuned POWERFCs ECU replacements for the Celica GTS also netting 15-20whp. The whole cycle starts over...

I test drove the 2003 RSX, 2003 Eclipse, 2003 Celica, 2003 WRX, and a 2003 BMW 330xi
eclipse was a piece of crap IMO, loved the beamer obviously but outta my price range, so basically it came down to the RSX, Celica, and WRX.
Wasn't impressed by the Celica as much as the RSX and the RSX styling won me over the WRX...
needless to say plenty of Celicas have pulled the rice fly by on me...and i always catch up and **** on them...there ya go
