maybe for some low speed crusing, given that its a nice day out, but i think the windsheild might start to cave in at higher speeds

plus i think its kinda illegal

look into speedglass. I don't know where to get it, but I know 2 guys running it and it doesn't scratch. It comes molded and installs like glass

Lexan flexes alot...but it's suppose to. It does however scratch and fog up real easily.

I wonder, what is the weigh difference of Speedglass compared to a stock glass windshield?

50-75% lighter. btw My friends paid much less by shopping around. They might not be happy about me letting the cat out of the bag about speed glass

Its illegal and if they catch you, they will give u a fix it ticket and you will just have to install the real glass. If you get Mar10 or comparable lexan, it doesnt scratch.

Lexan is the same polycarbonate material used on fighter-plane canopies an well as bullet proof glass. This material is very strong, but also surprisingly soft. This softness is actually what gives it its strength. When an object hits the Lexan windshield, it doesn't shatter it. Instead, the object scratches, dents or imbeds itself in the windshield.

Windshields are usually constructed from three relatively flat pieces of Lexan. Each piece is supported by a framework built into the roll cage -- this gives the windshield the strength to resist large objects. The downside of a Lexan windshield is that it scratches very easily -- you could scratch one with your fingernail.

2.2L Civic, that is one sexy cage... How much did you spend to have that done?

50-75% lighter than stock glass? Damn... That is a pretty nice weigh savings. Then again, stock front glass weighs about 70lbs mabee? (I dunno, i've never weighed one.) I wonder if they make rear windows too?

I have never seen Lexan break but doesn't it break off into shards (stabbing knives) instead of little squares like DOT tempered glass does when it breaks. This could be a downside for those not buckled in. I don't think this would look very good after many miles on the freweway. even the scratch resistant stuff would get ugly.
