if someoen has ur vin can they steal ur car?
if someone can get ur vin can they go to a dealership and steal ur car? i heard that keys can be made by the dealer i guess. should i change my lock or somethign to prevernt this?
I am tech at a Honda Dealership and yes they can make keys but you need more than the vin!! There not just gonna cut you a key cause you have a vin you need proof that the car is yours!! Now if i wanted to steal your car I could...i am just palyin but i hope that helps!! I would just cover your vin if it worries you that much!! I also dont think anyone would go through all that trouble to steal your car it also leaves a paper trail so they would just break you window or get into your car a easier way!!
It would be more cost effective to just use random honda keys to steal an EF. My friends keys start my car, so sometimes my car is parked in different spots than I left it...
I also work at a Honda dealership. You must prove you own the car before they will make you any keys for it.Actually most of anykind of car dealerships are doing this now,to protect themselves from lawsuits by the rightfull owner-in case a key was made by someone else in order to swipe it.There was letters that I've seen before about this exact type of thing happening a couple of years ago.
Sure there are rules and guidelines that the dealership is supposed to follow....but we're talking about thieves.
If they're willing to steal someones car, what makes you think they won't find a way around some pesky little rule.

Well then they will have to already have your registration,or the title.(and show a driver's license that matches)-that's pesky.
Like said earlier, they will just break out a window and take it.It's much easier unfortunataly.

That's what I'm talking about getting around.
