Default my 1st post, i just got a 89 ef9 hb.. gimme idea's

i just bought a 89 civic hb 220k mile on the lil d15b1 motor, should i do a 91 si mpfi swap? or a 92 dx head with 100k mile on it,with a 92 dx mpfi, or should i save money or a 92-95 d16z6 or a 96-00 d16y8 swap, help me out, and gimme advise i would appreite it, how much hp do u think i would gain forn the 92 dx head and mpfi, wit i/h/e i am curious cuss i can get it for like 150 bucks, from a friend,, please post

Welcome to the board save up some money and get a SOHC vtec swap or if you want you can do the mini me there is alot of info on this board so look around and you will find info on whatever you plan on doing good luck

hey thanx for the info, and replying, my 89 hb is a 'std" it is a candian model, is the wiring or vtec confussing? for the vtec if i went that rute? what do u think i would run in a 1/4 mile drag strip wth a sohc vtec motor with i/h/e?

Hiya.. I'm somewhat new to the board, but planing a minime swap for this week(hopefully) in my EX ef- theres a few on the board putting down mid to low 15's in the 1/4. I'd have to say it really depends on the condition of the head though. I'm hoping to get below 16 with my sedan (H/E.. no intake yet though) I'll keep everyone posted on my progress!

thnx i run 17.6 right now..lol anyhing under 16 would be sweet, would like to flow enough air to have a good intake sound when i get on it..lol more posts..

I would invest in an entire new(er) engine. Racing that D15B1 with over 220k miles is rather risky. The Si (D16A6) swap would be a good swap for somewhat cheap. There is a little work to it though. Its not too bad.... Another major upgrade would a 5 speed tranny, even if it is the DX (however I would recommend staying away from the HF; if those were even available in Canada) You've done your homework, I'll grant you that. And you can never research too much. Find out which motor you would want and which motor would best suit your needs/wants. Good luck.
