Default shaving/painting valve cover

hello..I have a b18c valve cover and i was interested in painting my valve cover, but i have no idea how to do this. do i need to shave it first, if so how do i go about doing this..and what kind of paint do i need to use. i want the smooth textured look not the wrinkly look....if anyone knos how to do this it will be greatly appreciated thanx

i already have the jdm valve cover on my car right now. im trying to go for a different look thats why im tryin to paint my stock one...thanks
