best/safest way to purge oil (PCV system ventilation)
I've been thinking about the PCV system on CRVT. What's the best way to run one? Endyn's kit is pretty simple and complete, allowing the oil to be returned to the block. The one on Larry's motor is "experimental", but can be duplicated. Also, I've seen where guys have taken a vent to the header, so the oil can be burnt-this also will create a scavenging effect in the system. Lastly, there's the old standard catch can setup that I can build myself, or buy. I'm interested in the theory of why each is better than the other, not interested in who does what, but the actual function of each setup. If any one knows the answers, I'll throw another ? out... which would be better for SCCA/autox?
if this helps any,
what i do is run the endyn valve cover crankcase breather setup, with the two nipples coming out of the valve cover. all of the built up gas travels up the oil vallleys and then to the catch can and out the filter as the oil drops to the bottom of the can and stays there. i have no other pcv system because that the obd II b18b blocks have no air water seprateor so i cant use the stock pcv system that the vtec motors run so the valve cover system seems to work ok for now. im looking in to a way to use a very small pump to evacuate the crankcase gas in stead of the pressure pushing it self out...i dont know though still just thinkin about it...

that's kind of what linking the sytem to the header would do... the header sucks the vapors out and burns them.. kinda.

yeah but i drive this thing every day and wouldnt want to be worried if i was actually burning oil in my combustion chamber, instead of oil drainage from my catch can. also not too willing to drill a check valve type deal in my header either, but who knows
