Here is the setup:

No PS belt
I'm gonna try to get some pictures of the car up for you guys to make fun of later...

WOW! nice pick up......I am thinking about getting skunk2 cams too for my dohc, since i already have the im and now a chipped program......
i was also wondering what made you choose this cam over the zex 59300? It makes more power for less money. Are there reasons to choose the skunk2 over the zex 59300?
Well...there are a couple reasons "I" went with Skunk2...
1. I believe the quality to be better (Probably just my opinion)
2. Found a good deal on the cam and cam gear from H-T member Daniel (Thanks Daniel)
3. Skunk2 has been in the biz longer than zex and they know their ****.
It's very possible that my opinions, as stated above, are based on misconceptions. My best advise is to you is to read what people have to say about both cams and then make you decision. Also remember the classic saying...you get what you pay for.
Unfortunately I don't have a baseline plot. The dyno isn't exactly around the corner from my house, I had to drive 4hrs to get there. Sorry.

Geez. I guess I have strong Ex motor then. I made 112.8 and 101.2 tq with just AEM CAI on my EX. This was at 80,000 miles.
Still, nice to see some gains from a little tuning.

Yeah...I was hoping the torque would be a little higher. This was more than a little tuning...it was FPR, cam, cam gear, VAFC and tuning...I'm still pretty happy with the way the car is performing now...

actually, zex is owned by comp cams, which has been around alot longer than skunk2 has. i do agree that skunk2 cams are better quality.

NO! **** you and your good dyno results!
Man, looks like you have yourself one healthy engine!
So now I finally get to see what my cam can do on an engine that isn't dying.
Awesome stuff, man. Glad you received everything intact. I loved the sound after VTEC x-over. Good ****.

HAHA...nice Daniel...thanks man! Yeah she screams like a beatch in VTEC now...it's cool the hear and feel VTEC. It's not a kick in the *** or anything but you can definately tell when the big lobes are being followed. Thanks again man!
Oh yeah...and I had tons-o-fun tearing my car apart doing the install. By far the biggest mechanic duty I've taken on so far...fun stuff!

I think that the numbers just seem low to me.
When my car was base lined completely stock on a SuperFlow eddiecurrent dyno (which usually ends up with lower numbers than like DynoJet numbers) I made 109 whp and 95.3 ft-lbs.
For those mods, I would have expected more power.
Are you still running the stock cat-back? You only mentioned the 4-2-1 header.

My exhaust is stock except for the header and a weld on straight through muffler. So I still have the cat and the resonator. I'm sure it's a bottleneck.
I'm hoping someone will post a similar setup with a different cam and blow my numbers out of the water or something. I also wish I had a stock baseline for my motor but I don't. I was hoping for a couple more horses than I got...but I didn't really know what to expect from the motor...

i am scared about dynoing my y8. I have seen some people put down some really good numbers and then some put down numbers with the same setup and have 10 or more hp less. Downey on this board I believe made 126whp with i/h/e on a y8. Now that is a strong SOHC! I actually own his header now
Thanks for the replies everybody. I just wanted to get this out there...I should also mention that the motor just rolled over 95,000 miles this morning.
Thanks again for the comments...

We have almost identical cars. 1998 EX coupe w/85,000 miles. You haven't had any problems with the stock valvetrain? Does Florida have emissions testing? One thing I'm concerned with is passing emissions here in Milwaukee with a cam …
Not yet...only have about 800 miles with cam installed. It's only stage 1 so the stock valvetrain should be just fine.
No testing in FL!! Not sure if the emissions would be a factor or not. I can tell you this though...my car seems to be getting better gas mileage after the tune. I don't know why.
