First AZ Honda Challenge
Today was the first Honda Challenge. Unfortunately most cars were not done in time for this first event, but it is only growing from here on out. I want to give a huge thanks to Mark G (goern-r) for coming out and racing when everyone else didn't finish their cars in time. It is because of people like this that make racing great. He did an unbeliavable job out there this weekend. Once again thank you Mark.
Keep in mind the first official points event is in January. So, there is time to get a car ready to race for the official series. Although I would still love to see the field grow in these first few exhibition events.
Anyone who has any questions on running or getting involved feel free to contact me. I know we can show everyone that AZ has a great racing venue and that the Hondas are getting it done out there.

Congrats on your first Honda Challenge Event. Sorry we could'nt make it.
We had a test session at Willow Springs this weekend. However we do intend to make Phoenix part of our calender for next year so we should be there with our two H1 cars in January. I believe the new track is great? We look forward to meeting you guys.

Bring it funny boy
You're starting to sound just like Chad- definitely no good.
Seriously though, great time this weekend. It was my first "race group" experience and I must say it was as intimidating as I thought it would be. Especially with all those USTCC cars riding my *** and passing me all over the place! Many incidents too, which were fun to watch and hear about and thankfully I wasn't part of any of them (except my little spinout
)
I'll have pics soon- SRD had a photographer there and took HUNDREDS of pics.
The only way I could have made it out there this weekend was with SRD's assistance
and the manual/moral help from Danny Foldes
. You guys are all total rock stars!!!
I definitely need some other
's to race with too so you AZ guys get off your asses and get your cars ready!! I'm working on getting all HC competitors discounts on labor and parts at SRD so start saving!

Yeah, that was the first Tucson event I've missed in almost 2 years! But I just had to have the car ready for HC. I should make the next one (new class though
).
I was at the Speedworld event 2 or 3 Saturdays ago. I'm really not that great at drag racing but SRD wanted the car there just to show off.
And the website is in the works.

Hey Jeff, great shots. You and Robbie were the most fun to watch! I can't believe he gets that car to do anything

That too, but more importantly, if they do break it keeps the shards of glass together and off the track where other cars could run them over.

I see how it is mark I go to tuscon finally to autocross and you decide to miss it. (clint) What class are you going (in autocross) to be running now?and what all did you do to your car?
goern-R,
Which car were you in? I was in the black and blue Subaru WRX.
That race was crazy. 30+ cars on the track of different capabilities. Traffic played a major part in that race. My in-car video is pretty busy. What a blast!
That was my first time at that track and I am very impressed. The surface is pristine, the layout is challenging and the curbing is perfect for playing on. I can't wait to race there again.

Oh, I know exactly what car you were in
very hard to miss!
I was in the #86 yellow Type-R with the blue decor. That was my very first actual race and I must say, you USTCC guys intimidated the hell out of me! The traffic was a bit much, esp. for me- 38 cars for the Sat race and 30something on Sunday.
I absolutely love driving AMP. There's a perfect blend of high-speed turns (turn 10) and hairpins, and it's very technical.
It was truly a pleasure getting my *** kicked by you guys and can't wait for you to make it back! Hopefully it won't be 106 degrees next time

This event was really fun to watch. Hopefully come January I can get going on my HPDE runs and get up to some type of competition level. I had a blast and I can't wait for the OCT evet at AMP.
