Suggestions on Aftermarket Headlight Bulbs
My integra's headlight bulbs are very dim and i can barely see **** at night.
I want some brighter bulbs. Anyone kno which ones are good and last a long time.
I have heard PIAAs tend to burn out after a year or 2. But i'm lookin into PIAAs because they seem to look bright and nice. But what do you guys suggest? And feel free to post pics. And no i already made my mind i do not want a HID system. Thanx

A guy named Daniel Stern, pretty much THE auto lighting guru, despite the occasions when he's wrong and/or full of himself, can answer your questions.
He also posted the latest comparison of euro-spec halogen bulbs. I posted a thread recapitulating his links to that test in this forum. Euro-spec are usually quite a bit better than US spec bulbs. We, here in the US, are enamored of HID look bulbs, rather than bulbs that make much difference in output.
Also, look for the automotive lighting forum.

hands down the best way to get more light for the least money is a 9005 conversion w/ Sylvania Cool Blue headlights. I used to have that and they lasted 1.5 years before one burned out. At only $15-$20/pair, that's not bad for 1.5 years of life and 70% increased light output.

i don't know about them being that much brighter, but definitely brighter.

You sure that cool blues are really best? Consensus would be that coated bulbs mean reduced light.
I'd say that I would go with any UNCOATED 9005 bulb that is rated at the maximum legal wattage of 65 watts, from a name brand maker, for the conversion.
I've used other Sylvanias that meet this criteria and have had them last only around 6-8 months. Rated life is 300 hours for 9005, vs. 1000 for 9006. I DO drive w/ lights on most of the time, as the South isn't known for conscientious drivers.
He did ask for the best bulbs, so buying euro spec would qualify. The output of a 50%+ bulb would be close to the 9005 conversion and the life would be 3X greater.

1700-1900 lumens (9005), vs. 1000 lumens for 9006.
Personally, I'm trying to get HIR2s, which are the equal of the 9005 in output, but last almost as long as 9006.
For the highs, I'm also getting HIR1s, which are almost as bright as HID bulbs.
Problem is, they have to be shipped from Germany, then to Canada, then to me.

Oh, I should note that I believe that light out put of halogens is measured at 13.2 volts, which an older car, thorough increased resistance, via corrosion, would be lucky to achieve via 18ga. OEM wires.
Putting in a heavy duty wiring harness (SUVlights.com, Daniel Stern Lighting [preferred], etc.) can keep the voltage at optimum, which can buy you, perhaps 30% more output, depending on voltage drop.
One more proviso - stay the F--- away from 80W or 100W high output bulbs. I bought some Hellas from a nissan motorsport supplier, but decided melting my headlight housings wasn't worth it, after further investigation. Many HO bulbs aren't Hellas (= QUALITY), rather quite the opposite (= CRAP).

most of the time, it is because those kids don't know how to install them. Either way... nothing is wrong with regular bulbs. It is not worth spending $50 just to be different.

none of the instances i saw were of them being touched. everytime before putting a bulb in they would clean it off with a cloth and rubbing alcohol. i'm sick of seeing blue tinted bulbs on every car. its a shame that most of them are driving around thinking i'm the ****

it maybe your harness. bulbs either stay on or they go. unless you try a friends loaner bulb maybe. if it is indeed the bulb. just go to your local parts store and pick up said bulb. 9006 for dc ,9004 for da, h4h for one peice da applications hope that helps

All you need is just any new bulbs. More than likely, your current bulbs are just getting old. Nothing is really wrong with OEM bulbs. They are bright enough for daily driving. You don't need super bright headlights to blind other drivers. And I'm sure you don't need to be a riceboy bling bling with the blue headlights.

Check out what i said about a heavy duty wiring harness. $50-$70. OEM wiring is the bare minimum acceptable to get power to the bulbs, over time these corrode and the resistance increases. With a wiring harness, all they need to do is provide switching inputs to a relay, which brings current direct from the battery.

Usually b/c they are overpriced crap. Buy something that is OEM for the Euro market and German made. There is no reason why they should burn out any sooner than the mediocre stuff that came with the car.
OR
Just find a good brand at AutoZone, etc. that is rated 65W and do the conversion PatrickGSR94 has linked and perhaps need to do it again in a year. Should be around $15-$20 each time.
NO BLUE COATED BULBS.

Seems to be perhaps the best website to find unique bulbs, but I'm unsure if they have a minimum order, something I'm trying to find out.
