Winter coming up... need your help
I dont have A/C in my 1990 CRX DX. The rear deforst works great but for some reason it doesnt work for **** in the front. Just fogs it up and makes it worse. I tried Never Fog and that didnt work either. What do you guy do to keep you windshield from fogging up? TIA!
i always open my sunroof but that doesn't help you since you have a dx. Um... even though it sucks, opening the windows for 10 seconds or so always works. Just crank the heat while you're doing it and leave them cracked. My car always stayed fairly warm doing that (but the back 1/4 windows were always fogged and part of the drivers and passenger window also).
i suggest scrubbing it with windex and paper towels really good, in my experience it works better than that 'fog away' stuff.
the front doesnt use A/C
uses the heater....
maybe ur heater its broken. or the actual cable that opens the valve for the heat to come out
or maybe ur blower is blown....
test whatever A/C ur car has.... and tell us the what does and doesnt do

Exactly you dont want to use the recirculate when your trying to defog the windows.
Other causes might be that your heater core is going bad might be leaking a bit of coolant which would also fog up the windows.
But it does also help to have the window down a bit just to get rid of some of the moisture inside your car.
As for someones comment about A/C not defrosting the front window, while yes that is true on our older cars but with newer cars when you put it on defrost the A/C does kick in a little to help dry out the air so the windows will defog faster.

I'm sure you don't want to hear from me, but since I do work for Valeo automotive, who among other things, makes automotive HVAC systems, I'll chime in.
Your rear defrost works by electrically heating the glass. Your front defrost works by passing hot air over the windshield.
You will want, like they said, to have it on a high setting, if the heater core is hot. If the heater core is not fully warmed up yet, set to maybe 2, to allow the passing air to remain in the heater core longer.
When the car is cold, don't turn on the heater at all for the first minute or two, it will just cause it to take longer to heat up.
If you ahve the AC parts, and set it up so the the incoming air will first be air conditioned(which will remove moisture by cooling it) then heated, it will help.
My 1991 std, I just do like veryone else, switch to bring in vent air, set the blower to 4, set to heat to high, switch to defrost, and crack a window.
Keeping the inside of the window clean will help. Stuff like armor all, etc, will evaporate and leave a film on the inside of the window.

Try this in your washroom mirror first if you don't trust me,
Use your father's shaving cream, rub it on the mirror, take it off with a paper towel.
Take a shower and see the results for yourself.

I use outside air heat all the way up and blower to 4. Works just fine and about 10 min I'm adjusting the air down (the heater in my CRX is probably the best heater I've ever had in a car - it actually gets hot!)
