raced a celica (GT or GTS) they run 15.4?? read in... wtf is going on
hahha ok... so the celica GT is only 140hp right, so 115whp or so... i'm untuned at 8psi so lets say 165whp ish give or take 12whp
so no way a GT could keep up with my car right? plus i got way more torque
so i must have raced a gts.... i killed it about 1-2 car lengths at the end, i only reved to like 6000rpm.. my redline is 7k and in 1st gear i reved maybe 5000rpm....
so was it good race???

stupid idiot... i didn't REDLINE my gears, and i ended at 5500rpm in 3rd gear, if you know 1/4 miles, we should end at least in 4th gear.. so i was maybe at 65-70mph so if i've gone more, yeah 4-7 car lengths
I went to the track about a week ago and some stunna came along with us in his GTS he ran a 15.37 with a intake and exhaust unbolted. You probably raced a GTS the GT are real dogs. Oh yeah the stunna in the GTS couldn't drive it was his first at the dragstrip, just like me

Ok guys I have a 2000 GT-S and it lays down 168 whp in stock trim. At the track I ran a 15.1 stock...I have since put intake, exaust, UR lightened pulleys, and venum 400 in it and it runs 14.6's and @ 2,750 lbs with an 7800 rpm redline. I wouldn't necessarily say they are slow, but you definately have them in weight. Just a side note this car puts out more wheel hp than the GS-R. And the VVTL-i pulls way harder than the VTEC in the Integra. Read on it...It's a fact. So if you are putting out 165 whp and you weigh 2100 or so I could see how you could beat a stock GT-S NO PROBLEM...But get one with considerable mods or Nitrous and the story may change a bit... Put equivelent mods on a GT-S as you have on your ride and you wouldn't win!
Stock GT-S weighs 2500lb (from toyota.com).
That car should have a lot of potential, it has everything going for it light weight, 6 speeds, good suspension etc. Just too bad they are really slow, I raced a lot of them on the street with my stock R and beat every one of them modified or not.

The reason it "pulls harder" then Vtec is due to **** poor tuning from the factory. Lowering the VVTLI point would make a much smoother transition, but for some reason Toyota didn't want this. Can you say marketing scheme? Thats the only explanation that makes sense to me. People drive it and get all impressed because the VVTLI hits hard, so they select the yota over the teg. Simple but effective.

No doubt....The VVTL-i would be of much better use if it kicked in around 5000-5500 like the Hondas. And get this the Matrix XR-S has the same motor with a redline of 8000. WTF... My GT-S is Not my primary vehicle but I have raved it. And I have beat plenty of cars.
Back when I had my 2000 GTS my best time was a 14.5 with a CAI and straight catback 2.5in pipe w/JUN titanium muffler. When I added the SAFC I had it tuned at EIP Tuning and I dynoed at 198.x hp and I can't remember what the torque was(SAFC gave me a little over 4hp!) but I do remember it was a sweltering august day here in MD. Sometimes I wish I never gave the dyno sheet to the dude I sold it to
With a little more practice and better tires I probably could have pulled a 14.3-14.2. The 14.5 came with spinning tires off the line.
EDIT: Oh yeah, my redline was at 8500rpm and I could keep it in the powerband. 14.5=slow

2500 pounds is not light weight.. and you forgot to add weak tranny on the list

compared to an eg 2500 isn't light but compared to my eclipse at 3300 it a feather. And I have had no problems with my tranny. Shifts smoothly even if I race it back to back to back...
My friend has one also with an s-afc and a 100 shot wet running 12.14... However he was hit from behind 1 week after he ran in Fontana.

Sorry man I don't know if the guy was talking about a celica or an eclipse but, I have to confront this. I have actually SEEN a celica gts pull a 12.4 with just a 100shot hookup and slicks so 12.1 with safc and some practice shouldn't be to hard to reach.

I have a 2002 Celica GT-S and I'd like to address some of the issues here...
Whoever said the 1/4 time is 15.4??? I don't know where this figure came from. Maybe an automatic GT-S?
Stock 6 Speed GT-S is 15.1. The lowest recorded at Newcelica.org with JUST a 50 shot was 13.949@104.48mph.
Slow? No thanks. I'd spank your turboed whatver, putting out 165whp. I only modded my GT-S with i/h/e/s-afc. If you knew anything about Toyotas or Celicas, to be specific, you'd know that there is very little aftermarket support. Just recently turbos are coming out. The GT trim (140hp) has more turbos available because of it's lower compression. The GT-S (180hp) has 1 turbo that came out maybe a few months ago from XS Engineering at a cost of about $6500-$7500 with install. The Blitz SuperCharger costs about the same. No Aftermarket support. Even at a fraction of the aftermarket products out for only the CIVIC, a celica would be so much more superior.
My 02 Celica dynoed @
So you still think it's slow? My fastest track time was 14.1 with i/e/h minus stripped interior (rear seats), no spare, CF hood and 20psi tire pressure at about maybe 48 degrees at Pacific Raceway.
I now have an S-AFC and have some stickies I'll be throwing on next time I go tracking. I hope to get about a 13.9 or so. All motor. How many Inline 4's on here are doing this with just some minor mods? Nice.
Anyway, yea, you either raced a 5 Speed GT or an Automatic GT-S. No way you'd be able to spank any celica (7th GEN), even with that crappy turbo.

What the hell are you rambling about? The 7th Generation Toyota Celica 2000-2004. I'm breaking it down for you here... And trying to be specific.... I'm also talking about the GT-S NOT the GT. That's a difference in 40hp.
Stock 1/4 time for a 6-Speed GT-S is 15.1
Curb Weight is 2500/2580 LB (without, or with sunroof).
My car dynoed at 188whp and 137hp torque. I don't know what you've been reading or if you know wtf model and trim you're talking about. I'm not clowning hondas cuz I own a 95 ex (d16z6) but you honestly need to know what you're talking about.
The Curb weight is similar to a del sol, lighter than a civic. Not sure where you got the 3K+ curb weight from. Maybe fully loaded with the Klumpz or something.
