Default C/R and octane

Am I right by saying that the higher the c/r, the higher the octane that should be used? If this is right, what is the highest c/r that can be safely used with 91 octane? If I am wrong please feel free to correct me.

you are right in you comment. But all dohc vtec motors run on 93 octane. d-series can get away with 91 octane but once you get into 10.2 comppression such as a b16, I would use 93 on a d-series. one other way to stop detoation is to upgrade your cooling system. cooler motor = less detonation.
