you can still drive around a really high compression motor with big cams, although it won't idle well and it will use lots of gas

usually they got hotter too.

its not a matter of power

its when stuff breaks more often from the extra miles you put on it

its when u get 12mpg cause you are always driving it hard all the time

when u are worried someone will steal it

when the problems outweigh the benifits

being fast isnt easy, well it can be easy if you have lots of money

Reasons why my car isn't a daily driver:

#1 I'm scared of getting ganked

#2 900lb Rear Springs

#3 No Radio\Speakers

#4 Scared of getting smashed by a big truck and getting no insurance money.

#5 Scared of getting ganked x2

As far as the motor goes, when you have a really stiff clutch, really high compression, big cams, very light flywheel, etc...the car can be difficult to be smooth with...u literally drive 2nd gear, to 4th, to 5th in like 5 seconds. The majority of time you can leave it in 5th and just accelerate around w/o problems.

More than anything, what gets annoying is not motor stuff, but chassis, being gutted is no big real, neither is a roll bar, but buckets seats and harnesses are tough to deal with everyday, so is a full-on roll cage, so is no a/c and no under fans, stiff motor mounts, stiff clutch, loud exhaust, etc.

my only things are it being loud and the clutch pressure plate being too stiff.

everything else makes it "fun"

ie: fast, gas guzzler, no interior, no traction, etc, etc.

ya i see what you are all meaning, i mean if i put a dtr header on, some pretty meaty cams, i should be makin some ok power tuned with hondata, so it wont be that big of a deal on the gas part but i was just wondering how hot everything gets and how hard it to be able to drive a motor like that forawhile at one time.....
thanks tho guys

A motor is a motor.. it doesnt know the difference between beeing driven hard on the street or on the track.. IF it was built right using correct tollerances then Yes any motor can be driven on the street.. If the motor lasts 70miles straight without a hitch, then it can go 300 miles etc.. Having a built motor doesnt make things harder to drive on the street, it just adds more on the to do list to maintain the car, If im building a motor for street and occassional track use, then I use oem pistons bottom line.. If its a more of a weekend car then thats another issue. but for the most part you can drive any motor on the street. Basically there is really no point of return but your wallet, insurance and driving record..

When you don't make enough vacuum to run power brakes.
I haven't had a stereo for over a year and you get used to it pretty quickly. You also lose any modesty when it comes to singing at stoplights.
From personal experience, weird **** breaks when you take a modified car on a road trip. I haven't made a clean trip to TX this year. Between an ignition wire, coil, and a flywheel gear ring that somehow came loose I've been stuck on the side of the road 3 times since summer began. If you don't mind doing an insane amount of maintenance and checking under the hood religiously, then you can take your car as far as you can handle it. Each person has a different level of patience. Figure out what your limit is and start pushing it.

You want to make road trips buy a stock car with a bumper to bumper waranty w/ road side assistants.

if you plan on building a sick *** motor for road trips get nation wide cell coverage and AAA platnuim and have a credit card (not maxed out). but for local putting around build what your pocket allows!! get sick with it. Methanol, off the header, spindle mount rear end, all the mb fiber glass products, fire breathing all motor beast!! oh and lexan everthing!!
