I have a Hybrid EG civic with a GSR motor. I am currently run GSR brakes all around. The last time i went ciruit racing, i overheated my brakes!!
I than decided to change out my pads for some DTM pads that was rated at 650C and again, i overheated them.
Now i am confused. Before when i went to the track with my friend's ITR, the brakes held up fine with stock pads! The quest for a better brake setup is on. I can either get better pads, like hawk HP+, EBC red stuff, etc, but i am afraid that i'll overheat those as well since my other pads didn't hold up. Or, i can upgrade to ITR spec brakes (made by fast brakes). What do you think would be a better solution?? Bigger brakes or better pads??
BTW - i don't want to use pads like Hawk Blues cause my car is a daily driver hence i don't want the pads to chew up my rotor really badly.
Thanks in advance.

Are you a left foot braking? Have you removed the dust shields? Have you tried cooling ducts? Are you running with a wheel that has an open design allowing airflow? Purchase some brake temp paint like Performance Friction Temp Smart, Tempilaq or borrow an IR temp gauge and measure your pad and calliper temps. If your temps are too high you may need to invest in bigger brakes. If not purchase pads for the temps you are running accordingly. You can’t have it booth ways, racing pads require high temps to work properly which makes them unsuitable for the street. I would invest in some higher quality pads like Porterfield R4……And get an inexpensive set of pads for the street under $35.00. Track work always eats rotors and pads it is part of the cost of participation.
