List of Upgrades/Improvements for the 2004 S2000
check out the pics I posted of the MY04 accessories. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=627104
hmm i prefer everything about the older MY00-03 s2000's, and no i am not biased.
if i had a choice to trade up my 03 for a 04 without extra cash, i still wouldn't do it. the new gauges look too complicated and i prefer the F1 look where the tachometer starts from the left all the way to the right...
but i still like the 04

I wouldn't call it a POS yet...nobody has even driven it yet. Wait till they come out and you've driven it to bash it.

everyone needs to remember that the reason they made those 'improvements' to the engine is because a majority of the people who own the current model complained over the lack of torque below 6000rpm's. Honda is only giving the people what they want.

It doesn't mean it's a POS.
What could safely changed by reprogramming or an aftermarket ecu? More displacement is more displacement. If you are serious about building motors, you wouldn't worry about a "redline."
How silly, calling something a POS when you haven't driven yet, much less worked on the motor.

What it comes down to IMO is the majority of people that are going to buy one of these don't enjoy the 5500 RPM hum on the freeway. They made the sixth gear a bit longer, while making the other five shorter. With the decrease in the peak power output's RPM, plus the new gearing, it should make for a much better freeway driver. I think the main concern was it was too racey and not that daily drivable.
For me though, I'll keep my redline at 9k

Wow, talk about a gross generalization. The majority of owners complain?? I've never heard a complaint about torque from an owner. The only place I've ever seen anyone complain is either on boards from non-owners or in mags.

but if the european and japanese markets are keeping the old 2.0 liter, they have to know somethign we dont. we all know japan likes to keep the best for themselves(such have having all the type r's, higher compression engines, etc.). i have a feeling that honda wanted to still keep the 2.0 liter engine but they "sold out" since the general american public is filled with a bunch of fat slobs, wishing they had more torque to get the mcdonalds faster.

yea honestly, why would you want a car with more displacement, same horsepower but more torque throughout the powerband, who wants more torque?
I mean i know you guys are disappointed about the lower redline and stuff, but i don't know it's not really a bad thing. Also it's proly still a 2.0 in japan causa taxes and the fact that americans want toreque like u said

All I can say is I hope they don't mess up the new S2000 like they did with the new civics... damn the new civics are ugly, and slow

What do you mean slow? Civics were always slow. Is the new si slower than the old si?

lol, bad example, it is slower
but i understand what you're saying about the other civics. I actually kinda like the new civics they grew on me

I am just saying that the new Civic Si is a lot more like a ford focus than a honda. IMO they look retarted, they sort of resemble a honda short bus... and I am scared of the short bus....... But yes, I also drove the new si, I hated it. It seems soo damn slow, it may have more torque but I didn't feel it as much, and the handling of the car is horrible. The Ek was much better, again IMO.
