Default SMSP header folks, do you use a cat?

For those with SMSP headers.

Since the primaries are longer, does it eliminate use of the cat like the comptech and dtr header?

Also, would it hurt overall power to use a carsound cat vs. no cat?

I have been trying to find dyno plots of hi-flow cats vs. testpipe.

Thanks.

I've been using the Carsound 93506 without any problems to date. Willard has had it on the longest (over a year) with many many track events. George and Bryan and Corey and everyone else tracks George's car a bunch and no problems with it and it's even holding up to the insect smokings .

SMSP - Who might even try running one for next year's race season for some harsh testing.

do you guys have problems with the SMSP header not clearing the brace (connected from tranny to the motor ) and if you do SMSP do you plan to improve this ? also since your header is adjustable do you have problems from having leaks and not being seal correctly ???

To Answer your question with my experience, it is No, and No. No leaking what so ever, and it clears, even tho its a tight fit.

I run the same cat as well the carsound cat, ive been using the carsound cat for almost 2 years now, but only ~6 months with the SMS header, before the cat was used with a JG header and JDM header.

Header is built to clear the brace without any modification to the brace, but it is close.

Since only a slught few have ever played with tube lengths the production version will be one piece but can still be modified in order to have the same adjustability.

Just out of curiosity George, have you attempted any length adjustment tuning on the dyno?

As George said I would recommend running a cat, regardless of who makes the exhaust. I'm personally running a carsound. the difference between running a cat or a test pipe does not warrent the adverse effects.

My SMSP header clears w/o any problems and I use a Carsound Cat set up by Dave and had NO problems whatsoever.

How many different headers are you going to buy?

I hope the production version (100%) stainless will be ready in time for Santa. You may even be able to get these at your local performance shop if everything goes well.

Are these going to have 2.75" collectors to match with your new catback system?

The B18VTEC headers have 2.50" collectors. I offer 2.5" and 2.75" for B20VTECs and that what the 2.75 exhaust will be for.

BTW, A GSR header with a 2.5" collector was used on a 2.0L Integra RS this weekend at Maple Grove and won with an 11.8* in the street class. So you better be putting the power down for the 2.75" collector.

Good job Gordon.
