looks like one to me i can almost see the vtec solenoid under the breather hose on the valve cover

i thought the throttle body was different in 96-98 civics? didnt they face upwards?

not sure on that one...i had alittle experience with a z6 but never a z8 all i really know is b series...im pretty sure its an ex though

Nope, only on the D16Y7. Y8/Y5 had the horizontal TB, not the vertical one.

thanks i knew it did for the 99-00, but wasnt sure about the 96-98.

ITs not a Civic EX Engine. Theres no VTec Cilinoid (cant spell it)
thats a single cam motor, not a Twin cam. My brother works on Hondas for a living

lol, its obviously a single cam, and no its not a twin cam, because that would require the cams to be the same.

it looks like an EX motor to me, but if you can get another picture, get one taken of the engine code

an lx non-vtex motor has the throttle body pointed up.

Yep, I'd agree that's a single cam VTEC from a 96-98 EX. I just picked up a bone stock 97 and that pic looks identical to mine.

Yea, it is a D16Y8 i have an 97 Civic EX and it looks just like my power plant other than mine has a Blue AEM intake and Chikara header
