Default ? for exospeed

I am going to finally break down and buy a cam. I want to know what I can really expect from your cams HP wise. I think before you recommended the 909 cam. I have a CRX D16A6 with 2 1/4 inch exhaust, Header, CAI, And hyperduck chip.

Let me know

Our SR909 cam for the D16a6 is the best one for the "average racer who wants a power increase but does not want to sacrifice gas mileage" once you go to the next level cam, the idle will get rougher... but of course power potential is more. You actually would get more power with the race A6(which isnt really our highest stage A6 cam-other special ones are available on a case by case basis), but then the mpg will drop lessen and idle wont be as smooth, it will be noticeable.
The SR909's potential is actually not unleashed with just bolt ons. Its great with it, but with headwork, higger rev limiter and tuning on the dyno, its personality changes and more power can be gained from that SAME camshaft.

P.S. a Stage 4 Exospeed A6 camshaft is available but only recommended for Serious racers who know what they are getting into. Wild badd *** idle, mean powerband, and screams like a ***** at top end. Upgraded valvetrain is required and headwork is highly recommended when running this camshaft.

i got a set of my zc cams reground by exospeed this summer(remember me wil? adam jabaay? i'm loving the buildup on your crx.). i havent gotten a chance to run them yet because i've been finishing up my beater before i tear down my good car, but as far as dealing with exospeed, they get a big thumbs up. Wil was a super cool dude to deal with, and he even returned my phone calls a couple of times. the cams look great, and i expect them to perform just as good when i get them in along with a built top-end next week. thanks exospeed!

Well I found a head that I am going to have port matched and polish the exhaust side. But I do need to keep it streetable. I really want to know what cam would give me more power without losing too much streetability

SR909 cam is perfect... Like I've said in other posts... Our headwork, cam gear, I/H/E, SR909 cam, some dyno tuning... 135-40hp to the wheels on a stock block. 30-35mpg. stock idle.
Can you ask for any better?

Do you make your own cam gears?

no we dont.. and as far as I know.. we wont in the near future.
Keep in mind guys that not all cam gears are made the same. As easy as it looks to manufacture the gears... there is balancing/design/ and proper Timing marks needed to have for it to be a TRUE reliable cam gear.

I've seen some for sale out there that dont even have the proper timing marks... Im not going to name the brands since it might **** people off here.. but FOR SURE I know certain ones are not to be trusted and used on any car.

You've seen those inexpensive $60/per gear sets that are sold out here... I know for sure some of those are manufacturer defects.

Stick with the proven ones.... much safer to put on your car.

AEM and Skunk2 have been good ones to work with.
The Edelbrock ones are also good from our experience.

What can you expect from the SOHC VTEC cams, what different ones do you make, and the prices?

Hey, the Exospeed link under ZC camshafts is down, I wanted to see cam selection /prices. I expect my ZC DOHC cores to arrice this week and need to see my options, Either going to be EXOSPEED or EF-1 for the regrinds, anyone have any negative experience on either of these people. Help me decide who offers the superior product. (this is for a hot street car with minimal internal mods) Running 4-2-1 header 2.5 exhaust, and CAI. PM7 ECU with MUGEN program also.

Both Exospeed and EF-1 have gotten nothing but positive feedback on this board aswell as others. I have been searching for info on cams for about a week straight, and those 2 companies are foremost in the running. From product quality to customer service. I hope to give a 1st hand opinion of one of the two soon.

hey sup,
we have 2 sohc vtec cams available for 92-00 z6 and y8 head. both are designed for all motor apps. and both streetable. These 2 cam specs are the most efficient we were able to come up with after testing out diff specs. we foudn out that sohc vtec dont need that much lift to be efficient and produce good power. gains are about 8-15 on the 2 cams. more on the high side on the more aggressive cam.
our grinds are about $200 w/ core exchange... power band wise... you'll feel the difference mid range and at the top end. it screams past 5500rpm up to 8K.

as far as ZC cams, we also have all motor spec for the JDM cores only. they were designed using the JDM cores and gains are about 8-12 hp. its a great upgrade for ZC dohc and perfect combination with some head work and bolt ons. they are streetable and do not require upgraded valvetrain.

Sup Will
Here's a Q I asked earlier on the TECH board with no response, maybe you can help me out.
When using the SR909 CAM can I use 88-89 Integra Valvesprings as a budget mod instead? Are the integra pieces stronger than OE 90-91 Si pieces?
ISKY's are pricey!

wussup, we havent personally tested out the 88-89 Integ Valvesprings. I dont know if it will work. the SR909 cam actually u can use the stock valvetrain. its just recommended to upgrade valvetrain if you plan on going up to like 8K rpm.

Isky's I think are reasonable for what you get. If not many of you know about the company.. they have been producing camshafts and valvetrain for decades.
